In my opinion, the issue is not was the war justified or was its outcome positive - it was. The Iraqi people are better of and the military victory was superb.

However, at this time the issue being posed is if there were, in fact, no WMD in Iraq, how could US intelligence have been so wrong?

Why is this so important? Because if our government plans on acting preemptively in the future, they had better do so based upon accurate intelligence information. If they don't, they are acting recklessly. There is no arguing that.

I am sure the intel waas accurate at some point before invasion and probably not long before. There are suggestions that it was buried so deep that it could not be retrieved in the time between invasion and Baghdad or between invasion and the point at which the relevant commanders (if still alive) determined that all was lost and split.
