Can you tell me your source for that comment? EVERYTHING I have read shows Lee to be a kind, God-fearing, Christian man who DID NOT believe in slavery. Now US Grant, on the other hand, was the one who owned slaves before, during, and AFTER the war of northern aggression. I'm just curious as to where you get your information Walt

Lee wrote in a February, 1865 letter that the best relation between white and black was that of master and slave.

Now US Grant, on the other hand, was the one who owned slaves before, during, and AFTER the war of northern aggression.

Grant briefly owned a slave prior to the war. He freed this man.

Here and there.
