NEW YORK -- SHOWTIME takes its NO LIMITS attitude to the White House in its newest Original Picture tentatively titled DC 9/11, it was announced today by Jerry Offsay, President, Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.
The film will be executive produced by Robert Halmi, Sr. (Dinotopia, Arabian Knights and the Showtime Original Picture, THE LION IN WINTER), with Lionel Chetwynd (Kissinger and Nixon and the Showtime Original Picture, VARIAN'S WAR) producing. Chetwynd also serves as the film's writer. The film, a Lionel Chetwynd production, will be directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith (the Showtime Original Pictures SIGHTINGS: HEARTLAND GHOST and HAPPY FACE MURDERS).
DC 9/11 stars an ensemble cast including Timothy Bottoms (That's My Bush!) [I saw a bit of this on CC and didn't figure Bottoms as a dramatic actor. We'll see, I guess] as President George W. Bush, Scott Alan Smith (The Parlor) as White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, Lawrence Pressman (American Pie) as Vice President Dick Cheney, Penny Johnson Jerald ("24") as National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, David Fonteno (Analyze That) as Secretary of State Colin Powell, Mary Gordon Murray (One Life to Live) as First Lady Laura Bush, John Cunningham (States of Control) as Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, Greg Itzin (Adaptation) as Attorney General John Ashcroft and George Takei (Star Trek) as U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta.
The movie is scheduled to air shortly before the second anniversary of the September 11 attacks which stole the hearts of all America and the lives of many in New York, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. Production for DC 9/11 will begin in April.
DC 9/11 takes an inside look at the Bush Administration, beginning with the day of the attacks, and following the President's journey to Ground Zero, culminating with his now famous national address nine days after the attacks. The film covers the many difficult decisions and tasks faced by the President and his staff as they were challenged by the possibility of the "first war of the 21st Century." Eschewing their own feelings and healing process, the President and his team instead tended to the needs of a wounded country. Based on real life accounts the docudrama will interweave actual footage from these haunting events.

Thanks for the ping.
I'd like to see how the TV movie turns out, but I don't think any Hollyweird production can do justice to the events of that day.
The fact that this actress feels as well disposed towards Condi as she does towards the Hildebeast is simply an indication that we have, at hand, yet another brainless actress. This sentence is most revealing...
"I put the gap in my mouth and the freckles on my face and shortened the hair," said Jerald, who also did extensive research to discover "why this African American is a Republican. I don't want to make a mockery or try to imitate Condoleezza, so I went for the visual change."
Why is it so important to discover why Condoleezza Rice is a Republican, as opposed to wondering why Hillary Clinton could be a liberal Democrat?
Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather admire the Real Thing.
Accept no imitations! No spare change for Brand X....
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Right now we are happily hating the character she has created. LOL!
