Moore-less Mel Gibson (and Toby Keith and Fleetwood Mac in Tune With the Troops)

Moore-less Mel Gibson

THE LEFT COAST REPORT A Political Look at Hollywood A conservative chorus rang out throughout the land. “Say it Ain’t So, Mel!” was the right thinker’s reaction when the story broke that Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions was going to be involved with Michael Moore's flimflam foray “Fahrenheit 911.”

Moore probably hopes to fill movie screens with a bunch of Bush-bashing baloney just in time for the presidential campaign of 2004.

But now, according to Variety, word has it that Gibson’s pulled the plug on Icon’s financial involvement with the pseudo-documentary maker’s latest project.

So, where does a lefty go to get money? The same places liberal Democrat candidates do – to Harvey Weinstein’s and Miramax’s front doors.

Miramax will supposedly give Moore “bridge” financing and use a French firm, The Wild Bunch, for distribution.

Rumors are flying about why Mel booted Moore out the door. Could be that he got some helpful tips from LCR readers via e-mails and letters.

The Left Coast Report thinks that Mel’s working with Moore would’ve been the biggest mismatch since “60 Minutes” paired up Clinton and Dole.

Don't miss Moore's latest starring role in NewsMax.com's Deck of Weasels.

Toby Keith and Fleetwood Mac in Tune With the Troops

Toby Keith surprised everyone by showing up at a parade in Valley Center, Ks., for former POW Pfc. Patrick Miller. Apparently, Miller had made his Iraqi captors mad by singing Keith’s power-packed piece “Courtesy of the Red White & Blue.”

Miller had been persuaded to perform the song with some school friends during the festivities. All of a sudden a local pastor, Bobby Massey, interrupted and announced, “I think it would be better if we got someone who knows how to sing it.”

Out of the crowd stepped Toby Keith. Keith went on stage and performed the tune with Miller as the soldier tried to hold back tears of joy.

Afterward, Keith gave Miller the guitar he had played during the performance.

Meanwhile, members of Fleetwood Mac used the opening of the group’s first North American tour at the Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio, to display some gratitude for our troops.

The veteran rockers donated 200 tickets to local radio station QFM96. The tickets were given away to those who are currently serving, or who have already served, in any branch of the U.S. armed forces.

The Left Coast Report comments that it’s sure nice to hear Mac music being used for something other than the theme song of the ex-loather-in-chief.

Good news!  My conspiracy theory about Variety's original story has not been addressed, but at least the "smear" seems to have run out of steam.  FReegards.

here is the original variety story.

So why did Icon toppers Gibson and Bruce Davey bail?

Employing its usual silent strategy, the company wouldn't say.

Speculation is that the liberal politics of Moore are closer to those of Harvey Weinstein than the conservative Gibson's. But sources at Icon argued that when Oscar euphoria passed and Bush's invasion routed a tyrant, the bid seemed pricey for a docu, even though Moore's last pic grossed nearly $40 million worldwide. As quickly as the Bush bashers disappeared, they could return, and Miramax is betting Moore's pic will have a captive audience when released to coincide with Bush's re-election run in 2004.

Fleetwood Mac still has a ways to go to make up for association with Bubba.

LOL, I never thought this story had much to go on in the first place. Something really stuck to high heaven when this came out. For that matter, whenever Moore is in the news, it always stinks to high heaven.

did some Moore digging and here is what we can expect from the fat slob....I added the stars below as Moore said his story will mean nothing.

Moore described the documentary as "in part the story of twin errant sons of different oilmen," in an interview with New York Times columnist Frank Rich last month.

Moore said he plans to investigate the historical ties that the Bush family had with the bin Ladens for many years via the Carlyle Group and the little-publicized report that the Bush administration allowed 24 bin Laden family members to leave the U.S. on a private Saudi jet before the FBI could question them in the months after 9-11.

Though the Roger & Me helmer noted that such talk alleging a link between Bush and bin Laden may ultimately

****"mean nothing,"****

he believes it's worth bringing up.

"Here's one question I want to pose," Moore told the Times. "What if on the day after Oklahoma City, Bill Clinton, suddenly worried about the safety of the McVeigh family up in Buffalo, allowed a jet to pick them all up and take them out of the country, not to return?"

Perhaps. I've always thought Blubba appropriated the wrong Fleetwood Mac song. Instead of "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow," it should have been the one with the refrain, "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies."

Sure glad to hear that about Fleetwood Mac; a little surprised, but glad. They've aged (like the rest of us), but they still have it.

thanks for the link. The author is right, it very well will mean nothing.

Moore's analogy with McVeigh's family being flown out because of their "safety" is meaningless as well. McVeigh's family had nothing to do with Oklahoma. Only that they were related to Timothy. Where's the newsflash in that?

He'll lie through his fat face with the facts just like he did with "Bowling for Columbine." He's a freak('in) hot air balloon.

Anyone have a lighter? Let's see if he'll combust whenever he opens his mouth.

He should have said,"What if Bill Clinton had known of a middle east connection to Oklahoma city and coverd it up. What if there was a composite of a "swarthy male", 26 people who signed affadavits saying they saw McVeigh with Middle Easterners, and McVeigh had nine Iraqi Phone numbers in his wallet, and Clinton gave all those terrorists a pass to gain political momentum."

Oh, wait, that happened.

It sure did. And that point needs to be driven and shouted out in every movie review when this piece of dung film opens.
