just saw it tonight ... was very disappointed. The sex and rave sceen were a waste of footage, always great fight scenes but the story was too complex, warped or talkative - and the abrupt ending ... what the heck was that all about.

Really disappointing.

Or maybe what they think of as reality is actually just another layer of the Matrix...

"The oracle asks Neo if he saw Trinity dying. Neo promptly says no and the oracle looks a bit shocked.

Then the oracle says that the choice has already been made whether or not Neo is going to let Trinity die. He only needs to understand why.

Finally, at the end, The oracle notes that she is now a believer that he is the one, whereas previousely she was not.

In the last movie, the oracle said he was not the one, noting implicitly that Neo did not lead the "examined life" (know thyself)."

At the time the Oracle talks with Neo and tells him he's not the one, he is not yet in love with Trinity. She tells him that "being the one is like being in love" or something like that.
IMHO, That is the difference between him and the other 6 and the reason he isn't a program.

Or... maybe it's the reason he is such a special program, because he's an AI that learned to love in the same way that his counterpart, Agent Smith, is learning to hate.

Just grasping at straws here...

Youmay have something there. I enjoy the idea that neo is a program.

I could be entirely wrong here but I think the matrix in a matrix theory is wrong. I believe that Neo is not a program and is indeed special. The series is laced with religious overtones like the name of Trinity. If you consider that in the real world there is a God and people given powers then it would be the one thing that the machines have no control over and the anamoly that produces an avatar type "player" in every generation of the matrix.

One thing that probably never happened before was the combining of the avatar (neo) and a program (Smith). They are now linked in the real world such that Neo has some control over the programs running in the real world and Smith can "brain-dump" himself into a human in the real world.

So -- that means when the size of Zion reaches a certain point its destruction is inevitable. I think maybe Col. Sanders choice to Neo is a form of control over the anomaly (Neo) as he stated. Neo sits back while the real physical threat (a large Zion) is destroyed and they allow him to repopulate it with a small number. He eventually dies off and the matrix is reloaded running smoothly until another anomaly arrives.

If Neo does not take the easy way out then he can cause more disturbances and further weaken the power grid (they stated that since Neo arrived that Zion was filling at an increased rate). So the machines option would be to destroy Zion and everyone influenced by Neo (maybe nearly everyone) and shut down their much of their systems until the population was restored.

In a way the people in Zion are like symbiots on the body (matrix) removing anyone that sees through the matrix and can therefore disturb it (by awakening more minds).

I saw the first Matrix movie and wasn't too impressed.
I mean people running sideways along walls, jumping 200 feet in the air...supposedly so fast they could dodge bullets etc. It looked really stupid to me.
Kinda reminded me of those cheap KungFu movies with people jumping out of trees and flipping 8 times in the air before they kicked somebody in the face. I thought it was infantile and overdone.
Just my impression.
Needless to say, I won't be going to see Matrix Reloaded.

Just saw this in IMAX. OMG. I am ruined for life and will never ever emjoy another movie on tv or on a puny screen again.

This movie kicked ass, and even the rave sex scene was awesome. In IMAX it sounded cool and looked cool. People were ooing ansd ahhing at the opening credits for god sakes. I ehard several others say, I was sweating and I myself was tired. I had a physical reaction to the movie. It exhausted me.

WOW.
