Matrix Reloaded. Has Anybody seen it?

I did not see the trailer, I left too early and only found out about it afterwards.

The head-fake is that the first movie's premise is that the matrix is virtual reality, while the Nebudchadnezzer ship and Zion, etc. is the actual reality. Now, in the second, we see that escaping from the Matrix just means that you are not escaping at all. First movie: you have volition, and as Trinity says "the matrix can not tell you who you are". Second movie: Neo has been manipulated into becoming a tool and his will has only served to serve as another way of control, the Oracle is a computer program that manipulates him, etc.

I just came home from seeing this turkey. I was hugely disappointed. I love The Matrix. It was the first DVD I bought when I got my first player and I've about worn it out.

The Matrix: Reloaded is dreadful. Don't get me wrong, the action and effects are spectacular. The story? The execution of it? The orgy like "Dance Party"? The orgasmic cake? The lousy score? Violins? Oh yeah, don't forget the waspafarian twins. (OK. I kinda liked those guys.)

This movie is a mess. What were the Wichowski brothers thinking? Or drinking?

Too many characters, too many inconsistancies. Remember in the first movie how all the little sockets were removed from Neo just after he was rescued? Guess what? They're back in this movie! What's up with that?

The ending is abrupt but I can deal with that. I don't need the end of a movie wrapped up nice and neat and I know the third installment is coming soon.

As "Tank" said in the first movie, "Major boring sh!t"

I get your take and saw that as well. A couple of interesting points though

1) Neo chose to go back into the matrix instead of choosing what the other 5 saviors did

2) The spoon givin to Keanu before he left in the ship was not used.

3) I am not 100% convinced the oracle is evil...partly evil yes, but I am not sure that she is completely evil.

4) What about the oracle's guardian?

saw it...incredible fight scenes...too much corny dialog and pseudo-philosophy....It had what is possibly the best car chase scene in any movie to date...tip...after they finish talking to the french guy, do NOT go to the restroom...you will miss the beginning of an awesome fight/chase scene.

After the scene is over, it's ok to leave the theater in my opinion...the finale is disappointingin my view...and you need to listen to a ridiculously pointless 5 minute speech by some weirdo...

On second thought, I completely agree with your analysis except on one point.

I think that the architect conceeded that choice was an inherent natural property of humanity. Hence, in the end, Neo must choose whether to redo the matrix or go back to save Trinity. It is his choice, no matter how much his emotions may drive him.

(This is, of course, predicated on the fact that the architect isn't lying. The oracle was because she needed to trick Neo into making the choices she wanted...should make for an interesting third movie)

Saw it last night. It was awesome. There was a slap on Bush towards the end of the picture. They flash a picture of Hitler and then a picture of Bush Sr.

Also, there is a bash whitey aspect to the movie. All the folks in Xion(sp) are mixed races and all the agents are white and aryan looking.

The "Council" has a cameo by a famous left wing professor. I wish I could remember his name, I want to say Cornell.

...I suspect they are setting up for the following revelation in Revolutions: ALL of Zion is INSIDE the Matrix, and not just a dependency upon it stuck in a "causality loop" (to paraphrase the Merovingian). Recall the scene where Neo suddenly realizes he can stop the squiddies outside the ship (when the Neb. is getting torpedoed). Recall, too, that Smith was able to transform himself into the spy in Zion -- over the phone.

This would mean that no humans are free, and no machines are free (recalling Smith's comment on why he still chases "the One" even though he was "freed" from his system program obligations). Perhaps all will be set "free" at some moment -- the moment of cataclysmic failure of the programming brought about by a cascading "anamoly," and/or the birth of the REAL real world after 7 "discrete integers" or iterations (to paraphrase the "architect")?

Curious. If all the humans in Zion are part of a carefully crafted sub-routine for control, doesn't this mean that Smith is the only truly "unplugged" independent operator capable of exercising "free choice?" If so, isn't he the good guy? Come to think of it, what does Smith really want? He has said he wants to "get out of here" and must gets the codes to destroy Zion -- and eliminate Neo. In other words, he knows that the only way to destroy THE SYSTEM and liberate himself is to end the Human-Matrix slave-based economy, of which Neo has so far been an integral component. Or is Smith supposed to be the "bad" guy because in so doing he will destroy those humans with the intellectual power of free will, but the constrained ABILITY only to think like slaves (that is, "choosing" slavery by accepting the programming sub-consciously, or acting like Neo in always being the superhero, but never knowing "the why" or using the "muscle that really matters")?

It also renders virtually everything that happened in both films meaningless since it's all one big computer simulation anyway. It also puts in doubt that any next, higher level they might break into is any more real than the previous. This idea was handled much better in films like "eXistenZ" and "Last Year at Marienbad."

Well, following seeing it once I made these observations. (SPOILERS)



1) Zion mimics the pods, the tall machine like structure with everyone living around the outside, which would clearly show how the machines do in effect have control over Zion

2) Secondly, how EVERYONE except for the counsel is relatively young, which is the point of the Rave, to show that the inhabitants are in fact young partiers. Neo even asks the counsellor why there are no "young people" on the consel, and recieves a vague response. This suggests to me that the counsel are the select few who get to rebuild Zion. The age difference is interesting.

3) Furthermore the Counsel's continued undermining of Lock's defenses in supporting Morpheus and recieving word to the oracle seems to suggest that the only way to save the "human race" is by having Neo see the Architect in which he'd decide to chose a small number of people to rebuild Zion, as oppose to have Zion completely destroyed.
