We Decide, We Report (NPR Barf Alert)

Alex Safian, Associate Director of Camera reports that on March 4th and 5th, NPR news reported two seemingly similar stories, one after the other, about Islamic extremists that blew themselves up amongst crowds of civilians, killing scores of people.

In consecutive news segments on the March 5th broadcast of NPR´s Morning Edition, the first attack was described as a ´terrorist bombing,´ with ´Muslim insurgents´ the likely perpetrators. The report offered no explanation [or possible] justification [for the attack]. The second attack was reported without using any form of the word terror, and included nothing about who the likely perpetrators might have been, describing them only as ´militants.´ Moreover, the attack, and similar attacks in the past, were implicitly justified as a ´campaign against ... occupation."

Safian then provided the "obvious" explanation: the first attack was in the Philippines, while the second was carried out by Arab terrorists against Israelis.

“Yesterday a terrorist bombing killed 21 people including an American missionary; more than a hundred people were wounded. "A bus exploded in northern Israel today. Police and witnesses in the city of Haifa say at least five people were killed and several were injured. Militants have carried out a series of suicide bombings as part of their campaign against Israeli occupation. This is NPR news."

No bias there, yeah sure, you betcha!!

We need to cut the funding to this "news" organization, it is such a crock of crap.

If they were made to compete in the open market, they wouldn't last a week.

The entire media does that to some extent or other, because they bought into a Arab propaganda that there was really a country called 'Palestine' which has somehoe become occupied by the evil JOOOOOZ.

Ask them who gave this alleged country to those JOOOOOOOZ and they blame it on the Brits suffering from some vague form of Western guilt because European anti-Semitism fueled the Holocaust, and that this non-existant country rightfully belongs to the Arabs who migrate to and squat there because Israel was destroyed, therefore the JOOOOOOZ are occupiers and all 'Palestinians' (of which there really are none) are 'refugees', because there are NO ARAB FOREIGN NATIONALS IN THE PA CONTROLLED TERRITORIES....and all JOOOOOOZ must withdraw or die....thus reveling their own anti-Semitism for which they feel no guilt whatsoever....

Mention the fact that there was never a country call 'Palestine', that 'Palestine' was an insulting name given to Israel after Rome took over the country, that it has never had an official language, currency or even a coherant political system and was administered, AS a territory, by various third countries for a thousand years until handed back to the Jews by Britain (it's last administrator) in 1948....and you just get more of the same rhetoric from them.

You're right.

We should cut their funding.

I used to be a member of Minnesota Public Radio (back in my college days). I let the membership slide as my listening time grew less and less as Clinton deployed me more and more (Army vet).

Tuning in recently -- during Operation Infinite Crusade(!) for Iraqi Freedom -- I listened to NPR's correspondent in Baghdad grow progressively more depressed as victory grew progressively closer.

NPR's right up there with the Dixie Chicks in my house.

But....but...the liberals are protesting in favor of aiding this little non-existant , ficticious utopia. (Go figure. Pass the bong.)

In a sad way, its funny. Al Quada, before 9/11, never ever mentioned Palestine, in fact, many believe that Bin Laden himself, didn't particulary care for an independent Palestinian state, as he is a "Pan-Islamicist" (He believes in one islamic country composed of all the other countries that have an islamic population, think empire). Later on, to get the "arab street" on his side, he started in talking about the Palestinian cause.

Side note, the leader of Hamas (at that time, now dead) had a nice quote. "Its nice to know, that he actually cares for us, we thought in his war, he had forgotten who we were or what we were fighting for".

To the best of knowledge, Al Quada has never engaged in a direct attack inside the state of Israel.

I am absolutely astounded at how the liberal elite have turned on the Jews since 9-11. The U.S. gets bombed, and the moslems become instant soulmates with the libs. Amazing!

I guess to them any enemy of America is their friend, and any friend of America is their enemy.

I believe both Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin have commented at length on this really perverse posturing by the so-called 'liberals'.
