Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said this himself at a banquet for the 150th anniversary of the New York Times. C-Span covered it.
It is a stunning claim because the Times did cover the plight of Jews in Europe, just not as much as Sulzberger thinks the paper should have. On the other hand, the Times had two reporters, Walter Duranty and Harold Denny, who flat out denied Stalin was murdering millions of Soviet citizens. Pinch had to know this.
