I know nothing about forensics. But let's just say there is indication that she was "carved" as with a tool. Wouldn't sealife attack around an open incision, and perhaps make it difficult to pinpoint the exact instrument that was used with a great deal of certainty? Maybe they're desperately looking for her skull or other extremities in an effort to confirm what they already believe.

Check out the link dighton re-posted on this thread, #31. It's hard to read if you are squeemish, but will give you and idea of the process and pay attention to the "great number of variables" as dighton says, it cause me to believe that the amount of time she was in the bay, sealife, turbulant wasters, etc are responsible for the missing organs. Connor was in better condition because he was protected from the elements by his mother, IMO
See the download and after you read the state of decompostion after day 4 you will see that it doesn't take much for the body to start breaking up, especially being where it was ...
