I'm a former US Army Officer. Rank of captain. Most of all, I think of myself as a conservative, patriotic AMERICAN. Proud to be a gunowner, a life member of the NRA and an NRA certified Firearms Instructor. A loving husband, father and Christian. You are too good for us!! Slum for a few years then call us back!!

(64,999,987 firearm owners killed no one yesterday. Somehow, it didn't make the news.)

You can probably fill a few books if you asked for info on Texas on the
Lone Star Chat thread.

Well, I guess I probably will since we have to wait for the wife to retire from the FL school system....but we may well visit this coming December to pick up another Newfoundland pup. Can anybody tell me if the Texas Legislature passed that law that reworked the CCW or pre-emption law to make public places areas of carry (or non-exclusionary for gun owners or permit holders)?

Thanks that is a GREAT place to visit! I like the pics.....my wife's favorite scene is that of the Bluebonnets in season on the highways. She has a pic of our (then) new pup in the middle of the Bluebonnets as her computer screen saver.

Can anybody tell me if the Texas Legislature passed that law that reworked the CCW or pre-emption law to make public places areas of carry If you mean the bill that would close the "local governmental "owner" loophole, where by the local governments, premepted from passing gun contol laws, decided they were the "owners" of various public buildings and venues, and so posted them with the sign required by law, but intended only to apply to private property owners, I don't think so. I believe the Chicken D's killed that along with redistricting, school fundings, etc. etc. However maybe not, as it's in a Senate Bill, which the House can still act on, now that the Fleeing Fifty Five have returned to the coop. Check the Texas State Rifle Association homepage (www.tsra.com , yes .com) site for updates. This is what they had to say last Monday:
House Committee Substitute for SB 501 by Senator Armbrister and Rep. Suzanna Gratia Hupp clarifies that governmental entities such as cities, counties and state agencies may not restrict concealed handgun licensees from public property, unless covered under existing state law, especially PC 46.03 and PC 46.035.
Floor debate on this important legislation has been postponed and is not scheduled to be heard in the Texas House of Representatives before Tuesday, May 13 and possibly as late as Friday, May 16.

Ya know, D., that was one of those days that gets better in hindsight as you have time to reflect on the fun that was shared.
At the time it was happening there was so much going on that I didn't have time to think about it.
What little I did was effort well spent to have y'all there.
Thank you.

Naw, G., you just put him in his place!

I feel like bumping that link to the chat area. I think everyone could use a laugh.

I wanted to get out and shoot this weekend, but the weather was lousy and I was feeling like crap. Saw this thread, which picked me up.
Would have liked to have shot my Springfield 03A3 at Springfield 8^)
Not to mention my M1 Garand, VZ24, 91/30 etc, etc,

I was watching you shoot the Garand and the picture shows it perfectly. You picked it up and handled the Rifle like it was an "old friend."
You have a great bunch of guys and gals from Houston! I really enjoyed myself.

Charlie, we really enjoyed having you there!
Yeah, when I pick up an M-1 it's like holding my first high school sweetheart again.
It was my first love, and I'll never forget the times we shared.
I'm glad you had a good time. We're in the preliminary stages of planning another one.
I'll keep you posted.
We do have a great bunch of people!

Before this thread passes into the mists of time, I'd like to thank a special person for helping us make it through the early times.
Rika, if you hadn't brought those shrimp I think we would have been eating cow chips before the steaks got done.
They were delicious!
I know you said they were simple to fix, but when I see all that seasoning you put on them and the time it takes to skewer each one of those critters, it don't look easy to me!
Thank you, sweet.

Boy, Talk about a promotional ad for Texas!!! I'd pack up tommorrow if I could. Makes me wonder if the "Honorary Texas Citizenship Papers" an old girlfriend in Corpus Christi gave me are still any good?!?!?

One more promo ad for TEXAS and TEXANS:

I'd pack up tommorrow if I could. If only I could. Here in Mexifornia, the sheriffs depts visit the ranges and confiscate anything that looks like an "assault weapon".
Businesses and wage earners are fleeing the Republik, and the green haired vagitarians are too militant; I might bring my S&W down to the Lone Star state and join y'all...
