All this begs the question as to whether a little encouragement came from some members of the EU to do this and hopefully to embarrass the Coalition, esp. USA.

[What are you defending? You didn't make either clear.] The principles of individual liberty first and foremost.
Then WMD and national defense issues aside, you should fully support the war on Iraq on the grounds that it brought individual liberty to millions of Iraqis who had previously suffered under a brutal dictatorship, where life itself was allowed only at the whim of the dictator and his sons.

The problem with bio weapons being WMD, is that there is a serious challenge in spreading a pathogen based weapon. Yet that is not to say it couldn't happen, but delivery is an issue and many doubt the bio weapons would trully be that effective.

I've heard that problems persist with bio-weapon delivery, but remember all the talk about mass US vaccinations against smallpox. Sounds like those that know don't know for sure.
