The "Palestinians" technically did not exist before 1963 when they founded that political party as the PLO. So their history is very short. But if you go back to the original term, Arabs of Palestine, they have a long history of being the dregs of the Arabic Nations, the thieves, murderers who were run out of the surrounding better off Arabic areas. A friend of mine an an airport once said to an Arab who stepped out of his way, "shucron" the Palestinian pronunciation of the Arabic word for thanks. The Arab get all huffy and said "I am a Persian Arab, not a Palestinian, the Palestinians are the Jews of the Arab world." The guy was quite insulted. Can you imagine him using the J word in public? -gasp-
The Arabs of Palestine have a long history of violence, no matter who their hosts are, they try to kill them. (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait) That is why they are kept in camps in the Arab countries; the Arabs of those countries are just trying to protect themselves, as they know their history far too well.
They feel the same way about the Palestinians you would if a biker gang moved into your housing tract.
I don't doubt what you are saying. But I think not all Palestinians were like that. Some of them have had a similar reputation to that of the Lebanese. Why else call them Arab "Jews?"
There were few Arabs in the Holy Land til after the Jews began their resettlement and grew the fabulous gardens and built industry. Then Arabs all around started moving into Israel for the job opportunities.
There surely is a Palestinian dialect of Arabic; I don't doubt you know what you're talking about. But it's also true that Arabs of many Arabic lands have continued to move into the Palestinian camps for the UN and French welfare.
It's a mess, isn't it?
