I love it now they have that camera man hovering all over Dick Faurot now...during bad weather only. Anyone else notice that? That camera man is all over the place filming Mr. Faurot! LOL
Makes me slightly nauseated because the camera moves.

Storm Chaser: Meteorologist-rejects who are pretty much insane but get us really cool pictures of tornadoes. We release them from the mental institution every time it starts thundering, just to see what they'll do.Tranquilizer: What you have to give any dog or cat who lived through the May 3rd, 1999 tornado every time it storms or they tear your whole house up freaking out of their minds.
Moore, Oklahoma: A favorite gathering place for tornadoes. They like to meet here and do a little partying before stretching out across the rest of the Midwest.
These made me LOL! So true, so true!

I lived in Puerto Rico for two years and got to live through Hurricane Georges back in 9/98; I lived in the Midwest for 22 years and only went through one tornado; I lived in CA for a couple of years and never felt a tremor, but I did experience a 4.0 quake while living in Indiana growing up (how's that for strange); now we live in OK and all the tornadoes go all around us (so far). Unfortunately, we still have until the end of October before we are out of tornado season...no matter where you live in this country, it seems it's always something!
I will add something to your list about hurricanes--the smell afterwards is awful (depending on where you live)! We lived on the Naval base and so we were near the water and the smell of dead fish and mangroves made for an unappetizing combination until our electricity came back on and we could close the windows. I still get queasy thinking about it!

Thank you so much for the chuckle! Hugs!!!

Do you know how a tornado and an Oklahoma divorce are alike?
Either way someone is bound to lose a mobile home.

Yeah...but you get 3-4 DAYS warning of the impending impact of a hurricane. Try out a good tornado--if lucky you get a couple minutes warning! Also, tornadoes happen a LOT more often (not referring to funnel clouds either). Can you imagine what the coasts would be like if they'd had 200+ tornadoes in less than 2 wks?

That's hilarious! My 4 year old keeps asking me what a mobile home is b/c they have been mentioning (often) on the news how dangerous they are.

Cute article! I just got back from picking out a new house in Charlotte, where they don't have tornadoes ... famous last words!

my contribution from real life:
TORNADO ALLEY: A place of disappointment...when you live in the middle of
it for about 30 years and never see a tornado in person...
(Lived in Ponca City and Stillwater...closest I ever came to a tornado was when one
passed about a mile or two away...but over a hill so I didn't see it.)

Actually, I do agree with you.
I had friends from college that liked to do their own amateur "storm chaser"
runs...I was still too chicken to actually go looking for a tornado!
