He's young - 27. He has time to reform and become a more honest person. At least there's a bare possibility.

Unlike, e.g., Johney Apple or the aging Maureen Dowd.

"He's young - 27. He has time to reform and become a more honest person."

Part of reform entails admitting your faults and shortcomings and then taking steps to stop doing those things that got you in trouble to begin with. I see nothing that would lead me to believe that this has occurred, or will occur. Instead Blair has found yet another angle to exploit, that being the race card. There are thousands of young, black African-Americans who would give their right arm to have had the same opportunities as Jayson Blair. Very few of them would abuse it as he did.

No, there won't be any reform, because Jayson Blair is a habitual liar, an opportunist, and a con artist. Anyone who exhibits those traits is usually beyond reform. One has to want to change, and since the lying has worked so well for him, why bother changing. He's no different than William Jefferson Clinton, one of the most famous liars in history. Clinton didn't change even after his so-called fall from grace. He's still out there spewing lies, and making money off those lies. A con artist is a con artist for the rest of his life. No conscience, no guilt, no remorse.
