"The NE said the kitchen floor is tiled."

It very well could be they are vinyl tiles, but I am almost positive they are not ceramic tiles.

If the NE only saw a picture like we are seeing they could easily mistake the square pattern as being tile instead of a solid sheet of vinyl.

The NE just says "Mexican tiles." I don't know if that's a type, a brand name, or just a loose description.
