Induction is 20. Ongoing weight loss is from 25 to wherever you stop losing - i.e., people with fast metabolisms might be able to eat 100 grams and still lose weight, others may top out at 35 or 40. Then maintenance is just whatever keeps you at you goal weight. Some people are stuck eating 40 or less forever - life isn't fair.

I've basically stopped adding carbs at about 30-35 a day, because I still have 25 pounds or so to lose. When I get down near my goal, I'll add more to stop losing.

I started Atkins after the birth of my baby a couple of months ago, after Atkins died and I read a FR thread extolling the losses of fellow FReepers on the plan. Because I am breastfeeding, I did not start at Induction but went to Ongoing Weight Loss, and added berries to my diet along with protein, fats, and veggies. I have not touched any starches. I am losing kind of slowly: in 6 weeks, I have only lost 8 lbs. But the lbs are going off, and my baby and I are healthy.

My lifelong craving for sweets has disappeared. Now I look at baked things and know that they taste good, but I don't feel the need to sit down and consume them until I burst. I don't eat them at all! I hope I can get these 25 lbs of baby fat off, and I hope to continue eating this way, as I feel so much better than when my cravings played havoc with my blood sugar levels.
