Does anybody know how this diet affects diabetics? *************************************
Dr. Atkins developed his diet to help his heart patients, and noticed after a period of time that his overweight patients lost weight, and his diabetic patients were able to lower or, in a lot of cases, completely stop using insulin.

Thanks, I only take one pill per day but I do need to lose some weight.
There is a major history of heart attacks in my family.
I am 52 years old.
I love meat, eggs and pork rinds (hog hides).
This sounds like the diet for me.

I'm no dr, but have a family history of type 2, including mom, and I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy...and it makes perfect, logical, "can't believe the connection wasn't made before this" sense.
Carbohydrates (at least processed and refined ones) = sugar.
Sugar (at least for type 2 diabetics) = bad.
My mom's dr has been telling her for YEARS to eliminate sugar to control her diabetes. So why has there been so LITTLE emphasis on refined carbs and starches as well? It's baffling.
