Rabidralph, There is nothing in the least bit courageous about turning your back on people who you care nothing about. That is why he is more like a social climber who shuns his family as embarrasments around his rich friends.

A lot of black conservatives are people who spent their formative years among white people from whom they absorbed a tremendous amount of, "I like you. You aren't like blacks at all." So they grow up learning to disassociate themselves from blacks whenever and wherever possible. There is nothing the least bit "courageous" about it. That is why black conservatives are perceived as more eager to live among white conservatives than act as any kind of emissaries to the black community.

But the occasions in which I really drop trou' and exhibit the old rump involves the word "nigger" — the A-bomb of racial slurs. I'll get in a crowd of compassionate, caring liberals and start hurling that word around like confetti. I use that word in every way humanly possible – as a verb, adverb, noun, adjective and even as a dangling participle.

Yes, Garbanzo this is pure racial self-loathing minstrel buffoonery. If this were what black conservatism is about, which way is the Sharpton campaign headquarters ?

I don't recall describing my actions as courageous. But I salute your "courage" in pointing out my shortcomings.

Or maybe it is what it is, a parody of the liberal black culture and liberal pc virtue.

I spent my formative years in Anacostia and then in an integrated middle school and high school in the Maryland suburbs. I attempted to become friends with the black kids, but for some reason, they rejected me because I had white friends, and they said this to my face. For several months, in HS, I was threatened with being beaten up because my friends were white. So your argument that we're not reaching out to blacks is flat wrong: we are being rejected--quite often in a hostile manner.
