By mouthing off, he's not going to help anything. But if he remains a politician, he can quietly help the situation- what a good politician ought to do.

What everyone seems to have ignored in this brewhaha is that what he said was this is not an issue for the courts to leglislate, but the right & duty of the legislatures of the individual states. Once you legislate the issue in the Supreme Court on a subject like this, you do open a Pandora's Box logically for the other issues. There is no expressed right to privacy in the Constitution.
