This article provided more detail on his "capture." The family had been negotiating with coalition forces for his surrender.

It also states "On Tuesday, Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, announced the surrender of Uglah Abid Saqir al-Kubaysi, No. 50 on the list, and a leader of the Baath Party in southeastern Iraq. "

So... if the claims made by "experts" on Iraqi affairs and the Iraqi International Congress "sources" are correct and Saddam is still alive and reforming his Baath part under a new name.... how come all his pals are turning themselves in? And why don't those interviewing the "experts" and others making these claims about Saddam beling alive ask them that question?!

Baath part = Baath party
beling = being

Sorry, I have a bad cold and my head feels like a lead ball.

Because then they might have to admit that we're making progress in Iraq and they can't do that.

Even Fox anchors don't do this. It seems such a simple question to ask... "If you believe your sources who say Saddam is alive, then can you explain why his supporters are turning themselves in?" I'd like to ask just *one* of these so-called experts (being those that right books about all this and Chalabi who wants to run Iraq someday).

Its is curious, the dichotomy of views. The leftist political sluts (as Robert Scheer and Senator Byrd) see controversy and conspiracy in the Iraq action... I see something beyond heroes. James Fenimore Cooper framed the image of men such as these. The job that they (the soldiers and patriots) do is of immeasurable description.

We feel pride... and appreciation.

It seems such a simple question to ask... "If you believe your sources who say Saddam is alive, then can you explain why his supporters are turning themselves in?"

At some point it becomes clear to these people that whether Saddam is alive or not doesn't matter. What is important is that they are tired of being hunted, tired of running out of resources, tired of not having any control of their lives, tired of putting their families and (very few) friends lives on the line for their sake.

Another point to consider is it appears most of these Baath party heads are on a lot of peoples "hit" list. Pay backs are brutal when you've been raping, killing and pillaging for so many years.

I think this clown and many of the remaining Baath party members would rather be safe in U.S. custody then in Iraqi citizens hands. There is probably a whole bunch of sweatin' go on for the remaining Baath members until they get tucked away in U.S. hands. Notice how the article said the family was "negotiating" to make sure he got medical treatment before he was arrested.

Sure looks like our very smart President and our outstanding troops are doing a great job in mopping up, just like they did an incredible job with the war.
