Slave labourers turn out generally inferior products to those manufactured by the enthusiastic. Enthusiasm can be generated by the methods of propaganda, managerial psychology, and material inducements. For example, until late in WW II, German armament production kept increasing despite Allied bombing. Soviet workers also labored heroically under appalling conditions to help defend Mother Russia, even though they may have been opposed to Communist rule prior to 1941.
Until that knight's means of transportation failed him, at which point he could be overwhelmed by simple numbers of pheasants with handheld farm tools, to be beaten senseless until they could build a good roasting fire. Likewise, if the logistical train of 12 to 14 support personnel for each combat soldier is the target, you'll soon hear those REMFs whining about how they didn't join up for FIGHTING, just to get educational benefits and some job skills. And if constitutional niceties are forfeit for one, than so they are for all, and their families and the taxpayers behind them become legitimate military targets as well.
Knights were expensive to support. They required a stable of horses, grooms, blacksmiths, squires, footmen and so forth. However, all of these were safer and had a better life in fealty to a prosperous and successful lord than if they were banished to a life of banditry (romantic tales of Robin Hood aside).
Not necessarily feudalism, though the possibility of enclaves of strong city-states in the formerly industrialized East can't be easily dismissed. But a Soviet Union-style breakup of the central government here could result in both some independent seperate states and some interesting foreign alliances. And conditions and social codes could approach feudal fiefdoms in some areas, though likely not all.
Feudalism doesn't necessarily imply geographic breakup. It implies more of a system of personal loyalty to the next person up the ladder of political/economic/social/military power. "Job performance" matters, but only within the context of enhancing the standing of the superior, not more abstract principles like the business objectives of the firm, the well-being of the nation, patriotic feeling for the nation, etc.

I can see a #3 beginning in a regional area, say regions of the west over land use issues. If and when it is put down in a bloody way, a general campaign of voting from the rooftops could then break out.

I think you are off the mark. The target of a resistance movement would NOT be tanks, attack helicopters etc. It would be politicians and their supporters in their backyards, on the way to work, etc. For this the scoped deer rifle, fired one shot per engagement by one individual is the weapon of choice, not the Kornet AT missile etc.

We are not talking about foreign troops in the USA we are talking about American troops having to use force on other Americans the Soviet experience is not relevant because the Soviet troops' families were not living in the nation they were ravaging.Exactly correct, and a very important disinction.
The only way I could envision foreign troops on US soil would be UN blue helmets "invited" in by a Quisling governor in a post nuclear type environment of near societal collapse. But that scenario is pretty far out there.

Very well stated. It would take 50 "Shermans" to subdue this nation, with reprisal operations and scorched earth tactics, and Americans won't do it.

Those thousands didn't suddenly decide on the morning of April 19, 1775, that they hated the British. It had been escalating for over a decade. All it took was one event to push them into action.

Just as the 'fire next time' will begin to happen with little or warning..
The powers that be, the political establishment, have absolutly NO idea how many normal americans have come to "hate the british".
I see a lot of barely concealed hostility to a form of government that has become "destructive of these Ends", namely; -- a private life, liberty, and the pursuit of private property.

Nor do they have any idea of how many Americans literally spend every waking hour plotting what to do should the bastards ever cross the line.

Our government was instituted to protect our Rights. When it assaults them instead of protecting them, it's very legitimacy comes into question.

Yep, and in effect, -- it has been very busy 'assaulting' them since the turn of the 20th century, & the prohibition movements war on drugs, booze, & guns.
The war on 'terrorism' just may be the crowning blow.
This country grew up free while fighting 200+ years of wars on terrorist indian bands. Now we are told we must surrender a 'little' liberty in order to fight some crazy jihadists? -- BS..

Any of the scenarios are possible ... even likely if certain actions are taken by the oppressors.
As to superior weaponry, tanks, helicopters .... show me one pilot, one tank commander... if they were to be so foolish as to take action against their own in this particular nation ... who doesn't have to take a leak or a dump some time or another.
As has been stated ad infinitum on this thread, by people who who have been the very professionals you speak of ... they cannot maintain a 400 meter perimeter everywhere all the time. Either around the people manning those vehicles, the people fueling them, the people maintaining them or the people giving the orders. 10 million hunting rifles will begin to very quickly take a very defining toll.
No logistics ... no high tech fighting machine.
As to obtaining night vision, body armor, etc. Don't kid yourself. it's already oput there in significant abundance.
Add to that the fact that many (as you are seeing here) who in fact man that weaponry know what they are supposed to be fighting for and would not go along ... thereby delivering the same heavier weapon technology to the rabble, in addition to the 10 million hunting rifles.
The King thought his highly trained, highly professional, better armed, most powerful army in the world at the time would take out the rabble of his day here in America. He was wrong. Even though its more high tech these days, the same principles apply now.
BTW, a number of the people you are conversing with on this thread are former special forces, former SEALS, former military of all types. They've been there and done that and are passing on to you many years of accumulated experience and knowledge in this area. Just FYI.
Best regards.
