The Congolese are at it again, genocide is rampant in Bunia. According to Guardian reporter James Astill,
Dead bodies litter Bunia's empty streets. From some the blood still drips from machete slashes, spear thrusts and bullet wounds. Others are two weeks old and stinking, half-eaten by the packs of dogs flopping lazily about the once-prosperous north-eastern capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
and the U.N., to whom most of the U.S. Protestant clergy have ceded moral authority, is doing nothing. Instead, the 4000 UN, mostly french, troops cower behind their compounds' razor-wire topped walls. According to Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Vollot, one of the French senior commanders,
"We've been sending messages every day to [the UN headquarters in] New York [saying] this was going to happen, that we need more troops. Nothing was done."
So, Colonel, just what do the words "Peace Keeper" mean?

Oh well, at least the stray dogs are being well cared for by the UN's actions - the PETA people should be pleased.
