I've been happily reminding people of these little numbers:
For the 103rd Congress, 1993-1995, the Senate was 44-56. Ten years later, after America saw what they made of themselves for this man, it is 51-48-1. The GOP went from trailing by 12, to leading by 2. A 14% swing for the entire Senate in less than two full election cycles (Senators have 6-year terms).
For the 103rd Congress, the House of Representatives was 178-256. Ten years later, after America saw how Bill Clinton used and abused that party, it is 229-205-1. The GOP went from trailing by 78 to leading by 24. That's a swing of 102 seats, or 23.4% of the House, in five election cycles.
The Presidency went from an avid liberal to a conservative moderate, with little hope for the Left in the next election.
Yeah, I'd say that becoming his useful idiots certainly damaged the Democrat Socialists Party... not to mention the fact that most pundits are predicting an additional small GOP pick-up in 2004 in both Houses. Remember: they predicted GOP losses the last time. ;^)
