Navarro says patrol groups 'threatening;' Spencer, Simcox deny allegation

BY BILL HESS

Sierra Vista (Arizona) Herald/Review -- 5/25/03

DOUGLAS -- Armando Navarro, an outspoken critic of what he calls vigilantes and militias, said two Arizona groups and one from Texas "are threatening our people, the Mexicanos."

He identified the Arizona groups as the American Border Patrol headed by Glenn Spencer and the Citizens Border Patrol Militia organized by Chris Simcox. The Texas organization is Ranch Rescue founded by Jack Foote.

The leaders of two of those groups said Saturday that they aren't threatening Mexicans or anyone else crossing the border illegally, but they are providing information to federal law enforcement agencies so the government can take action.

On Saturday, Navarro warned that the border could erupt into violence if action is not taken to stop Spencer, Simcox and Foote.

Saying he knows people and groups in Mexico who will not hesitate to take up arms against vigilantes and militias, Navarro said the time to eliminate violence along the border is becoming shorter.

However, Navarro denied that he intended to have a confrontation with Spencer or any of the civilian patrol groups this weekend. He said he wanted to have a dialogue with Spencer. However, in a press release from the National Alliance for Human Rights, the subject was "Latino delegation travels to Arizona to confront militia activity."

"I rather would call it a cross-fertilization of information," Navarro said as he sat in the lobby of the Gadsden Hotel. "I basically want to obtain information from him (Spencer) and give him information. We need to learn form each other."

While Spencer said Saturday that he would rather not meet with Navarro, "if he called I would talk to him."

Spencer said Navarro, a political scientist at the University of California Riverside's department of ethnic studies, "is straightening up his organization under the guise of attacking us."

Spencer added that Navarro and his supporters twist the facts of what groups such as the American Border Patrol are doing, inciting people against Spencer by calling him a racist and anti-Mexican. The American Border Patrol is based in Sierra Vista.

Spencer's and Navarro's paths crossed in California, where another of Spencer's organizations -- the American Patrol -- was established.

Navarro and his supporters are now coming to Arizona to continue the battle without obtaining the real facts and without getting their hands dirty, leaving the actions to others, Spencer said.

"They want to be gladiators without going into the coliseum," he said.

Simcox said Saturday that the actual name of his group is Civil Homeland Defense, which is based in Tombstone. He said he debated Navarro in the past, and sees no problem with what Civil Homeland Defense is doing.

"We have not broken any law, and there have been no complaints," Simcox said.

He described his organization as a neighborhood watch group, which in the process of looking for illegal immigrants has "saved quite a few of their lives."

Navarro said he was in Southern Arizona in 2000 on an initial fact-finding mission. His trip that began Thursday in Phoenix is to help establish a network of groups, which he said is ineffectual in making a united stand against the anti-immigration organizations.

In the press release, Navarro said the organizations such as Spencer's, Simcox's and Foote's are armed terrorists.

During the interview in the hotel lobby, he said the United States is on the look out for international terrorists but is doing nothing about the terrorists on the United States side of the border.

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever said he has not had problems with any civilian patrol organizations. He added that the group being developed by Navarro will polarize the border even further.

"There will be some kind of violent confrontation," the county sheriff said.

Although the extremes of both sides are problems, the sheriff said the groups will not get any trouble from his department as long as they stay within the law and only do things that are legal.

If any person or organization makes a criminal action, Dever said he will act, as per his constitutional responsibilities.

Douglas Mayor Ray Borane, who is not a supporter of Spencer, Simcox or Foote, said he cannot support the actions of Navarro either. Both sides are too volatile and use inaccurate information to build up support and "their rhetoric is doing harm," he said.

The possibility the situation will get out of hand cannot be underestimated, the Douglas mayor said. "It is explosive."

Borane said the U.S. and Mexican governments' inaction is to blame for the creation of citizen patrols and their adversaries.

Felipe Aguirre, who came from California as a representative of Pro Uno, a group he described as a self-help organization for immigrants, said that what has to be stopped are the people dying in the deserts.

He and others, including Borane, call for a new guest-worker program, to allow Mexican workers into the United States legally.

"We have to find a humane way to bring in people legally, not illegally," Aguirre said.

Criminals on both sides of the border entice individuals seeking employment and a better way of life to illegally enter the United States, which is the cause of the problems, he said.

"The United States has always seen Mexico as a source of cheap labor," he said.

Navarro said there is a lack of cohesion among Hispanic leaders, especially those in Congress, when addressing the immigration problem. Recently elected U.S. Rep. Ral Grijalva, D-Ariz., whose district includes a large part of the border, has given some help, Navarro said. Unfortunately, Grijalva "is like Moses in the wilderness and no one is listening to him," Navarro said.

As for the goal of Mexicans to take back the Southwest, as Spencer says, it is the real reason for the migration, Navarro said.

"If the country (the United States) denies us, we have to consider all options," he said.

One of the options is what Spencer has been talking about -- the return of the Southwest to Mexico, Navarro said. In the next quarter of a century, demographics and other political factors will determine what happens, he said.

I do beleive that many of Navarro's statements are legally actionable by the feds and must be, if any one of them has the stones to do it.

Slowly, ever so slowly, we move towards social war. Eventually the flash point will be reached. I cannot believe it. Someone who does not even belong here claims the right to further the invasion of his alien countrymen into our nation. Lord! Americans seem to be sick!

I live in Riverside and Navarro is a hardcore Leftist who, like others, just plain hates America and white guys. The area paper, the Press-Enterprise, regularly gives the guy print. All this on the California taxpayers dime, as he is a UCR "professor." The guy is the Brown version of the KKK, a race hustler, and an extremist in every sense of the word.

By reason of my employment, I have grown up around the Mexican immigrant community in Riverside County. Most are level-headed and hardcore Americans, in no hurry to replicate what they have left in corrupt Mexico. They dismiss seperatists like Navarro as troublemakers and, from time to time, you'll see the Press-Enterprise let a letter to the Editor slip through from an American of Mexican heritage blasting guys like this. But the paper is overtly sympathetic to these NAZIS, under the guise of "academia." And people wonder why California ranks in the basement in academic productivity on all levels. This guy is one of their posterboys.

Unfortunately, law enforcement can't do anything until they break the law, and I'm sure him and his "group" are on their radar screen. If he plans on organizing some sort of violent action, they'll be all over him.

If not, the American law abiding, gun owning, men and women of Arizona and Texas will deal with it. Wannabe revolutionary Navarro will certainly be surprised to see how many of them are of Mexican heritage.

He "knows" people in Mexico who will join in? We all know people in America who will answer that threat, in the law enforcement community and without. Until then, he's just a big mouth and blowhard, like Hussein, Kaddafy, et. al. The cops would certainly do well to roust the guy just to let him know "the deal." It would probably take him down a few notches. Like most of his ilk, it's other people's blood that gets spilled - certainly not theirs. They're too "important."

Navarro is partially correct in describing American Border Patrol and Civil Homeland Defense as threats -- just not in the way he describes.

1. We keep publicizing a problem that the politicians on both sides of the border want to sweep under the rug. A lot of them want to sweep us under the rug as well, but that just keeps life interesting.

2. We pose a definite threat to the Mexican smuggling cartels, whether they're moving drugs or people. Instead of just dodging uniformed law enforcement, they now have to worry about every person they may encounter near the border. This is a real inconvenience to a multi-billion dollar multinational enterprise in getting their products delivered to the market, whether it be cheap drugs or cheap labor. I sometimes wonder if they're going to charge us with illegal restraint of illegal trade. (Somewhere out there a lawyer's eyes just lit up in unholy greedy glee.)

3. We pose a financial threat to the individual illegal alien. He just forked over a large chunk of cash to a coyote (with no money back guarantees) and all he gets for it is a refreshing hike in the Arizona sunshine followed by deportation. Was he just unlucky enough to walk up on a Border Patrol agent or was one of those gringo vigilantes hiding in the bushes and guiding the Border Patrol to him? Whatever, he's pissed.

Don't pull on Superman's cape.......

This guy has it all wrong. The very worse thing that can happen is violence on the border which he is advocating. The unarmed border watchers have actually helped with water and food for stranded Illegals. Who the heck wants to see men, women and children dying of thirst in the desert or in the back of a semi?

The real problem isn't there's jobs in the U.S.. The problem is there are no jobs in Mexico and Fox doesn't want to admit that.

Sounds like a threat to me. Navarro is a marxist Mexicano ---he and his government in Mexico have no respect for private property ---they don't believe in private property rights in Mexico ---why would they believe in them for Americans? I hope Bush is paying attention ---if Navarro brings armed Mexican nationals to start shooting at Americans protecting private property ---this could get ugly.

The Mexican government is skating on thin ice I think with these threats and lawsuits and anti-American propaganda trying to convince the illegals that the US is behind all their misery. I think Americans ought to start talking to the illegals ---they are pretty smart for the most part and they can quickly understand that it is their own elites who are keeping them poor ----remind them of all that oil the elites have control of ---show them the movie "The Patriot". Let that government and Navarro give them guns and ammo to fight us ----they might just turn around and head on to Mexico City with them.

I hope they have the FBI watching Navarro because he has just made a very serious (and terrorist) threat against American citizens. For one ---who are the people and groups in Mexico with the arms? Even the Mexican government would be interested in that because Mexico is a strict anti-gun country, the people and groups are not supposed to have arms. Unless Navarro himself plans on supplying them with the arms he wants them to use against Americans.

Interesting bit of info....

ARMANDO NAVARRO - SEDITIONIST

"Ethnic Studies" Professor Armando Navarro (U.C, Riverside), head of "Impacto 2000", militant, seditious revolutionaries pledged to "take back AZTLAN", has proclaimed his anti-American rhetoric many times. From "RECONQUISTA - The "Takeover of America" booklet and audio tape produced by the California Coalition for Immigration Reform: From the Latino Summit Response to Proposition 187 at U.C. Riverside, in January 1995: (The was the conference where Democrat Party Chairman Art Torres proclaimed, "Prop 187 is the last gasp of white America in California" - where over 500 Latino activists swore non-compliance with Proposition 187)

Navarro, organizer of the conference: "These are the critical years for us in the Latino community. We're in a state of transition. And that transformation is called the browning of America. Latinos are now becoming the majority. Time and history is on the side of the Chicano/Latino community. The difference with us today in 1995 is that the demographic transformation of 25 million people is changing the coloring of American. It is changing in the future and in the present the balance of power of this nation.

It's a game, it's a game of power. Who controls it. Today, as we sit here, Latinos from grad K through the 12th grade comprise 39% of the student population of the state of California. The Anglo - 40%. In the year 2010 Latinos will comprise 50% of the student population statewide, the Anglo population 28%. And we saw the awesome, awesome capability of the student sector during the October-November period (1994 - Latino "Grande Marcha" against Prop 187 in Los Angeles). We saw the mobilization of thousands and thousands of high school students spontaneously emerge to the challenge, organize themselves. We've got to continue that mobilization -- you are like the generals that command armies. We're in a state of war. This Proposition 187 is a declaration of war against the Latino/Chicano community of this country!

They know the demographics, they know that history and time is on our side, as one people, as one nation within a nation as the community that we are, the Chicano/Latino community of this nation. What that means is a transfer of power. It means control. It means who's going to influence. And it is the young people that are going to be in a position to really make the promise of what the Chicano movement was all about in terms of self determination, in terms of empowerment, even in terms of the idea of an AZTLAN!"

Sooo, I check it out.  Sure enough here is Doc Armando... just as described above!

WARNING.... this link also contains a VERY graphic photo of a after autopsy suspect murder victim.  The photo is at the bottom of the page, you can read the text without seeing the photo.

Another little comment from the delegation for peace on the border bunch

"If he has any semblance of an organization, we're going to be looking for them," Navarro said. "They say, 'Join the hunt.' Well, the hunt is on them now. We are the hunters of the militias."

Hummmm. Navarro wants to "hunt" American Citizens that are documenting criminal activity by photographing the illegal border crossings of foreigners.   The REAL watchdog organizations such as American Border Patrol, Civil Homeland Defense and Ranch Rescue photographing the crimes of foreigners breaking uS laws and then report the foreigners crimes to local and federal law enforcement officers are being accused of "illegal, unjust and violent," activity.  Sounds like a VERY raw nerve is being exposed here

The good doctor . . . .

and...

A candid shot of the Zapatistas that Armando Navarro promotes.   Note black masks . . . .  here are a few more!

Dr. Armando Navarro to Lead National Delegation on Zapatista March into Mexico City

by Hector Carreon
La Voz de Aztlan

Riverside, Alta California (February 2, 2001) - (ACN) National Leader Dr. Armando Navarro has informed La Voz de Aztlan that he will be leading a National Delegation of Chicanos and Mexicanos on the Zapatista March into Mexico City. "This is part of our 'Acercamiento' with Mexico efforts we begun 13 years ago under the organization Impacto 1988" said Dr. Navarro. "Our purpose of joining the march along with the Ejercito Zapatista de Liberacion Nacional (EZLN) is to demonstrate our solidarity with the indigenous people of Mexico"

Solidarity eh?  With "the people of Mexico" eh?   Gee Armando, no support for "the people of America?"  No support for the country upon which you draw your living at a University that is funded by uS tax dollars?  Tisk, tisk Armando, you are appearing to be . . .   a... ummmm,    communist leach on free society!!!

And how does the Government of Mexico treat the American "bruthers" of your little experiment into the fantasy of Marxist / Leninism?    lets see.....

The Zapatista March to Mexico City has attracted international attention and the Mexican central government in Mexico D.F. has placed, at this date, strict visa requirements on foreign citizens who may wish to travel to Mexico as observers. No foreign national can directly participate in the march or they will be expelled and not allowed to return to Mexico for ten years.

WELL, well, well.  Looks like good old Dr. Navarro has landed solidly on the side of the communists.  And if you are not 100% convinced, if you have just the slightest twinge of a doubt . . check this out.  This is directly from the "Minister of Information" (catchy name) homepage of the 'emerging nation" of Aztlan

On the Palestinian-Jewish Issue

La Raza's struggle for the land and for political and economic self-determination is not different from the struggle of the Palestinian people in Zionist Israel. We live in Aztlan under Anglo domination as the Palestinians live under Jewish domination. La Raza as well as the Palestinians lost the land through military aggression and both people now live in segregated regions within the larger nation. The Palestinian people as well as La Raza provide the hard labor necessary to prop up the national economies. Both Raza children and Palestinian children are victims of educational discrimination. The Palestinians as well as La Raza are considered people of color. So who should we side with in the present struggle in the Middle East? Will it be with the Jewish Zionists or with Islam? It is no secret that the United States as a whole is siding with the Jews, but should we? It is also no secret that the Jewish Lobby in America now also dominate large parts of the U.S federal government. It is estimated that over 32% of the Clinton Administration is of Jewish descent. Many are top level Federal Officials and includes the Secretary of Defense as well as the Secretary of State. In fact, the Department of State is now pretty much entirely Jewish. Most of the foreign Ambassadors are Jewish. This trend was begun by Henry Kissinger who is a Jew. This is very surprising considering that Jews only make about 2% of the total US population. Making these statements is not anti-semitic. It is stating facts. We do not hate Jews. We respect the contributions that many Jews have made to world culture. However, we reject Zionist racist Jews like the war criminal Ariel Sharon and appeal to all good Jews to do the same.

Israel can now be considered to be the 51st state. U.S. taxpayers are now sending over 8 billion dollars each year in economic and military aid. The sophisticated military weaponry being utilized against defenseless Palestinians are gifts from Uncle Sam. In fact, Israel now has nuclear and biological weapons, thanks to the United States. Why is the US providing so much to Israel? Well the selection of Joseph Lieberman as Vice Presidential running mate for Al Gore should give a clue.

Another clue should be provided by how the Israeli Army atrocities unfolded in the US media. At first, none of the Palestinian children murders were being covered by ABC, NBC or CBS. Not until the French and Italian media started broadcasting pictures of dead Palestinian children was the US media forced to cover some of the Israeli atrocities. Politicians, including Hillary Clinton running for US Senate in New York need a friendly media to be able to win elections.

La Raza is a victim of the same political and economic forces that are oppressing the Palestinian people and other people of color around the world. We must awaken to this fact and understand the hidden strategies and tactics being utilized to subjugate our people in order to devise effective counter-measures to neutralize them.

Tezcatlipoca
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Nation of Aztlan

Gosh, ya think the "Minister of Information" is taking a little vacation in anti-Semitism land?

But, but, they are not really communist they will sputter...   Oh yea?

here is the convoy for the march good old Dr Navarro lead...

Local law enforcement provided security along the way...

The bus for the guys in the black masks....

And finally, for the hard core that are in true denial....   the banner on the bus.  Interesting logo.

So, here we have our own media ignorantly covering anti-semantic foreign nationals which are (in public press releases!) openly promoting the overthrow of the American Government.  Nice.   At the same time the stupid LEO's in Texas are arresting and jailing the Americans Citizens that are trying to put a dent in the million-six+ per year flow of criminal border crossers which are being encouraged to break uS law by that very same bunch of communists, the promoters of the Aztlan cult.  If the Fed's will not act, American Citizens will, and I for one will support the Citizens.

Man, that's a doozie of a post. I almost forgot about Navarro's involvement with the Zapatistas and that crackpot terrorist Commandante Marcos.

Maybe the best thing this Armando maggot has done so far is to go to Cochise County and make terrorist threats against Americans. This must have raised some eyebrows at the federal level, especially his little meeting with Raul Grijalva and his commie ilk in Tucson. Maybe the feds will finally shut this jerk down once and for all.
