Coulter: Bush Got into Harvard, Sulzberger was Rejected

When Bush-hating Maureen Dowd sneered that President Bush only got into Yale because his father was a Yale graduate, giving him a leg up because he was a "legacy," she attracted the attention of "Slander" author and conservative columnist Ann Coulter - a very dangerous thing to happen to a liberal like Dowd, already in hot water for deliberately misquoting the president and altering the meaning of what he said.

Noting that the increasingly shrewish Miss Dowd had also sneered at the White House explanation that Bush got into Harvard Business School despite the fact that his father had not gone there, (Dowd claimed that the Bush name was legacy enough), Miss Coulter turned the tables by citing the failure of Dowd's boss, Arthur (Pinch) Sulzberger of Jayson Blair notoriety couldn't win admission to Harvard even though, like Bush he bore a famous name as a member of the family that has controlled the New York Times for almost a century and-a-half, or even to Columbia University where he was a legacy.

Coulter summed up "(Those must have been some low SAT scores.) Maureen might want to stay mum on the subject of dumb rich kids, at least for the next three or four decades."

She's practicing! Someone will have to take Helen Thomas' position as "Bitch of the White House Correspondent Corps". It appears that she's just about ready!!

I love it when Coulter launches an attack like this... she can be so unbelievably vicious and yet perfectly fair at the same time... she's so creative and she can draw on a tremendous amount of knowledge about the political establishment... I love it! I just love it!

Born in Washington D.C., Dowd received a B.A. degree in English literature from Catholic University (Washington, D.C.) in 1973.

Yeesh! She was three years ahead of me!

Thanks. Great column, plenty of good zingers. I liked this one, which follows the observation that Blair was also kicked off his college newspaper for lying:

Once known as "the Newspaper of Record," the Times is now trying out the motto: "Almost as Accurate as the Maryland Diamondback."
