So no, I do not believe 32% of all Catholic priests in the US are homosexual. I think that number is too high by about 50-100%

Looks like a reasonable estimate to me based on :

1. Such views of 'designated Catholics' like Sullivan are put forth as expert moral opinion. But this is only a pose, leading up to the real message "which is that the Church will have to abandon its commitment to preserving the moral order in the sexual realm." The political purpose of the current crisis is "to break whatever hold the Catholic Church still has on morals, because morals, especially sexual morals, are the only thing which stands between the nations' beleagured individuals and families and the globalists control of culture through appetite..." (Jones, Culture Wars, April 2002).

What sayest the Researcher Polycarp about the figure found in the article that "32% of Catholic priests are homosexual"?

This is a point of contention between Sinky and me--I think the number should be MUCH lower, like 10%...

Donald Cozzens, former seminary rector in Cleveland and author of a couple of books on the contemporary priesthood, says that 40% of Catholic priests are self-admitted homosexuals; the number may be even higher.

Even Fr. John Neuhaus speculates (without providing any data) that the Catholic priesthood has always had a large minority of homosexuals in its ranks; it provided a haven for Catholic men struggling with homosexual tendencies and also gave them cover for not marrying.

So what was the problem with the old system, again? Cops did not go bedroom trolling to find offenders. Instead they had squads who put themselves in position to be propositioned in public men's rooms and what not. By arresting the lavender lotharios in such settings, they probably also decreased the likelihood of violence against the lavenders by normal men reacting normally to unwanted public perverted propositions.

AND nor should we criticize any normal man for a one-punch knockout of some queer propositioning him.

Let's go back to the old system. It encouraged better manners with strangers than tolerant Kumbayaism, "diversity," and touchy-feely "understanding."

As you are probably aware, Donald Cozzens is about as unreliable as the National "Catholic" Reporter since he is also a shameless advocate (albeit subtle) of the love that once dared not speak its name but will not now shut up especially among the terminally AmChurch Kumbaya set who need to excuse their favorite priests and bishops.

My wife often notes the phenomenon of those who excuse, apologize for, minimize, deny, or obfuscate the sins of others in the hope that everyone else will take the hint and excuse, apologize for, minimize, deny, or obfuscate their own differing sins. In this way, the significance of sin among men is ever "progressively" devalued and we are given the "comfort" of our fellow sinners which will lull us into hell.

Anywhere in the range from 20-40% is 10-20X the distribution of gay men in the general population. You'd have to go to an interior decorators convention to score higher.

What is most telling is the RC Church's (and probably every other church in the U.S. that tolerated homosexual priests) inability to deal with priests buggering choir boys. This suggests that homosexuals are not a clear minority. Homosexuals, plus those who sympathize with them for political reasons, plus those who cover up church scandal at any cost seem to be in the majority.
