NYC GOP Chick and father, firebrand, and others--including "Mr. Boycott France"---attended the Salute to Israel Parade today. Waving flags supplied by Dutchy, we cheered the valiant marchers as they danced and sang their way up the avenue in the rain.
A mob of politicos went by, but the only face I could pick out from the crowd was Mayor Mike. Later the City Council went by (jeered appropriately), then Anthony Weiner, and later Jerry Nadler (jeered appropriately).
Our meeting place was diagonally across the intersection from the pro-Palestinians, who had all manner of ridiculous signs, Palestinian flags, and American flags. There were reportedly some anti-Zionist Jews in that crowd too.
The police kept a firm presence over there, and seemed to be erecting new layers of barricades as the parade went on and the marchers started getting into it with the Palis. Some people went past them carrying signs as they crossed the street, reminding them, for instance, that Palestinians danced in the streets on 9/11. The police would not let anyone loiter near them, but these people got their message across anyway. At one point the Palis starting chanting at a group of young marchers "Go, go, PLO." They were immediately drowned out by
"Two, four, six, eight,
Israel is a Jewish State;
Three, five, seven, nine,
There's no such thing as Palestine!"
It was a fabulous, high-spirited parade. The theme was Courage, and all the different groups had made colorful banners on this theme.
NYC GOP Chick took some photos, which will be posted on this thread tomorrow. Firebrand was interviewed by Fox News. Unfortunately, I mentioned reading the 14 Reservations in the New York Sun. Whoops. They'll either cut that part out or dump the whole interview. Oh well, I looked funny in my rain bonnet anyway.

Big Lol
Bump

Pro-Israel BUMP!!!
I've heard the peaceniks here in Louisville spout their anti-Israel crap endlessly. Israel is just as evil as President Bush in their eyes. Heck even on www.louisvillepeace.org they don't mention Israel at all, just "Palestine". Supporting the "Palestinians" and opposing Israel is an integral part of the Left's hate America strategy. Hope to see more of these pro-Israel rallies in the future.

These guys?
Ya gotta love Anthony Wiener (the assclown who got Schumer's seat when the gasbag went to the Senate) -- kept marching back and forth, with some poor staffer having to carry that sign. He did the same thing last year. His heart's in the right place (just about THE only issue on which he makes sense is Israel), but it just comes across as kind of crass and self-serving, IMO.
Some self-impressed windbags from our City Council, who got heckled over taxes and laughed it off.
Curtis Sliwa and the Guardian Angels did a perimeter check around the terrorist-lovers.
Loud, joyful music -- perfect to drown out the hateful chants from the Jew-haters.
Lots of happy, innocent kids had to march past these monsters, some of whom are the freak-of-nature Satmars -- ultra-Hasidic Jews who are so against Israel that they gleefully join up with the savages who think that Hitler didn't go far enough.
The hands of a woman waving a small Israeli flag in one hand a small Puerto Rican flag in the other.
More kids who had to march past the bastards. At one point, one feisty group of kids stopped to face off against them and their "2-4-6-8, Israel is a state of hate" screeching to yell back "2-4-6-8, Israel is a Jewish state. 3-5-7-9, there's no such thing as palestine" and then, as they passed the swine, the Jewish kids started yelling "Not one inch!"
