I would need one to transport a wheelchair and me as driver, but then I would really not ever get exercise.
It would be cool for all terain where I can no longer push the chair. Still can't go to the beach since sand will blow out the tilt in space on the chair. Done that a few times coslty and a bear to put new ones on.

Is the Segway related to this?

I encountered a late middle age lady riding one on the sidewalk in Philadelphia. It appeared her friend was walking along with her. First one I had ever seen after loving the hype and being disappointed to find out what "Ginger" really was. It looked benign and not all that big. She was going no faster than a walk.
I asked her "how is it?" She answered "Better than the fantasy." That is my report.

I still think they're cool. I plan on buying a couple in two or so years. Hopefully the price will drop some by then. I'm moving to a mountainous area and this would be great to get to the neighbors on.

BAE Systems, Britain's biggest defence supplier, is to lead a campaign to sell the revolutionary Segway single-person transporter to the Ministry of Defence and other Government departments.
BAE developed the Segway's technology and the machine was launched in America in December. It has already been bought by US Special Forces and fitted with tyres that enable troops to ride through woods and across beaches and deserts.
The US Army is also putting the Segway through trials at its bases, where it is being used to move troops and to patrol perimeter fences.
Dean Kamen, the Segway's inventor, said: "The special forces are thrilled with them. The transporters can carry the soldiers and their equipment which, these days, with surveillance, telecommunications and everything else, can weigh up to 100 lbs per man."
"It means the soldiers can move more quickly and more efficiently, saving valuable time and energy, " he said. - - The Daily Telegraph
