Does anyone believe that Southern Republicans in the South in the 30s were the crackerheaded rednecks who made up the Klan? Please, it is ridiculous.

All I know is what I heard on the History Channel, I don't claim to know anything about the KKK but my ears lit up when Republicans were mentioned.
I did a search on my satalite and the history channel doesn't have any listings but I see the Biography Channel has a listing for: Ku Klux Klan A Secret Hisrory on Thursday at 8AM and 2PM. I believe that was the same program I watched.
