Is this good or what? Now if ABC would just ditch Peter Jennings and Steponallofus......and CBS would ditch Blather.....we could really celebrate!

Maureen casually flipped on the radio, as she reviewed Howell's suggestion for her Sunday column. "Hit on the WMD issue again, Mo. That SOB got the tax cut through and Pinch says we need to show him up as a liar."

Sighing, she started another column on "the frat boy", and she realized she had been grinding these out for over three years. Howell had told her Michael would return once he saw the quality of her work, but now she realized she had been used by Michael, just as Howell was using her now. Maybe that's why she had taken to hanging out with that coke-head from television. He reminded her of her Hollywood days, and happier times. Maybe things were going to change.

Turning the dial, she selected Bloomberg News, pleasant background financial noise which wouldn't distract from her column. "Howell Raines has resigned from the Times..."

Maureen's hand, reaching for the computer keyboard, froze in mid-air. "That couldn't be right," she thought. "I must be imagining things.."Glancing out to the newsroom, she saw clusters of reporters listening to radios or peering intently at computer screens. She realized, then, that it was true after all.

Silently closing her office door, she turned and went to the closet. A large bottle of bourbon remained there from the last going-away party. She intended to make use of it, as it was going to be a long, long day....

Score one for the good guys. Maybe. I reserve judgement until I learn more about this Joe Lelyveld fellow. It would not be surprising if Raines and Boyd are merely sacrificial lambs as a result of their infamy, and are being replaced by another who is less know but just as driven by the "progressive" (translation: statist) agenda.

Times stock - NYT - took a tumple this morning in time with the general trend of the Dow and Nasdaq.

It will be interesting to see if the resignations cause a bump. Here's the 20-minutes delayed chart link:

http://cbs.marketwatch.com/tools/quotes/intchart.asp?symb=nyt&sid=3393&freq=9&time=1dy&siteid=mktw

Looks like the start of a bump actually, at the moment the resignations became public.

"They have made enormous contributions during their tenure, including an extraordinary seven Pulitzer Prizes in 2002 and another this year...

... all of which must now be returned for fraud.

I just cannot imagine what is going through the liberals minds this morning. (I guess I should be thankful for that, huh?)

I hate to be a cynic, but there will only be another lefty DNC point man taking over the reins from Raines.

Exactly right.
