Books? Attacking The Times? Heheheh.

Which of course will yield another round of memos, e-mails, firings, and generaly delightful infighting, contributing to the summer's schadenfreude festival!

Excellent!

Audio pronunciation for " schadenfreude "

http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/audio.pl?schade01.wav=schadenfreude

Can you also post the pronunciation, as enunciated by Nelson? As in "HA HA!"

Raines and Boyd resigns

The New York Times said Thursday that Howell Raines has resigned as executive editor and Gerald M. Boyd has resigned as managing editor of the company's flagship newspaper.

Joseph Lelyveld, former executive editor of The New York Times, has been named interim executive editor. No one will be named interim managing editor.

"Howell and Gerald have tendered their resignations, and I have accepted them with sadness based on what we believe is best for The Times," Arthur Sulzberger Jr., publisher of the paper and chairman of the company said in a press release. "They have made enormous contributions during their tenure, including an extraordinary seven Pulitzer Prizes in 2002 and another this year. I appreciate all of their efforts in continuing the legacy of our great newspaper."

Some media watchers had speculated that changes could be coming at the top of the newspaper in the wake of a scandal involving former reporter Jayson Blair, who is said to have fabricated information in dozens of articles published under his byline in The Times in recent years.

In May, Raines told newsroom staff members that he accepted the blame for a breakdown of communications and oversight that allowed Blair to get away with repeated stories containing erroneous information.

At the meeting with reporters and editors, Raines reportedly spent much of the time responding to often angry complaints and questions about his management style. He said last month that he had no plans to resign, and Sulzberger said then he wouldn't accept the resignation even if it was offered.

Clymer is retiring. That was already announced.

I am wondering if Krugman will be next, because there is an ENTIRE WEB SITE dedicated to mocking his economics knowledge and his lies about the Bush Administration.! The Board must not be too pleased with that.

Yeah, you're right, that was a really politically correct book, it defined the man for me.

When I got to the point where he broke his brother's fly rod in half, I'd had enough. You probably remember the passage I'm talking about.

Raines as a amall child had been left behind by his dad and brother on a fishing day because he was too young for the kind of fishing they were doing. So, in a fit of childish tantrum and revenge, he broke his brother's expensive fishing rod in half. Raines then proceeded to let all his readers know that, even as an adult, even as he wrote his (dumbass) book, he continued to be glad about having destroyed his brother's fly rod.

A true jerk.

You mean "vohr die uhr"? That's probably the most common pronunciation here in Fla.
