Add morally bankrupt to just plain bankrupt. Both describe Soddom on the Pacific.

Pro-family groups that lobbied hard against the bill charged it would subvert the will of Californians who overwhelmingly approved the Protection of Marriage Initiative in March 2000, reserving marriage rights for a man and a woman only. It wouldn't be the first time California ignored the will of the people... Prop 209 comes to mind...

well...You hear it everyday, you see it in the papers..It's like a conspiracy to make sure that the public hears or reads the word homosexual. It is a technique to anesthetise (sp?) the public to accept it.
I am against it, but what are you gonna do, you can't stop it in California, too many liberals...
Besides, when it hits Virginia, that's when I will get most active opposing it.

Who cares what lala land does?
At least this hideous practice will not be practiced or RECOGNIZED by the Great, Moral State of Texas!
Texas, along with 36 other states, understands that homosexual "marriage" is an oxymoron. Homosexuality is about deviant sex only and deserves no legal recognition.

I hope you don't plan to work for anyone's campaign. Three of those four are the hottest political issues there are, and Bill and Hillary are somewhere up there.

If anything makes California a Republican state again, this will be it. This is how to get the Hispanic vote--not amnesties, but constant harping on social issues.

Barf...at the same time my dog has a high vet bill. If I sign her up as "domestic partner" do you think my medical plan would cover her?

Zavien, many Americans care more about what's on tv and who they will shag next than anything. We with the brains must remain dilligent in order to keep some kind of reality to life.
As I tell my 27 year old niece who could not take a job because it conflicted with Allie McBeal, "It's tv, it's not real. This is real."
Many Americans forget this and when Jack and Joe are called "married" on tv, that means they are really married.

The gays don't need these kinds of laws. They already have the legal avenues to accomplish this stuff, e.g. wills, powers of attorney.

I don't think this is a subject any one really cares about...This is one of those items that's beeb run to the ground, as are these The Illinois State House passed ERA Amendment, and it is will be voted upon in the Illinois State Senate after summer recess.
If you are not familiar with ERA, this is NOT about equal rights for women or minorities. The ERA Amendment states: Section 1: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex. Section 2: Congress shall have the power to enforce by appropriate legislation the provisions of the aritcle. Section 3: This Amendment shall take affect two years after the date of ratification.
Proponents of the ERA believe that they can begin again where they left off with the ratification process. 35 states have already ratified the ERA...Illinois would make 36. 37 states are needed to pass a constitutional amendment.
The word must get out about this before the Illinois Senate passes ERA. This Amendment would jeopardize the true equal protection of the existing 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

I'm hoping that this will wake up the Christians in this state. There's a lot of church going Christians who would not approve of this.

I'm hoping that this will wake up the Christians in this state This state? There is a push for special gay rights all over the country. Every Christian should weigh in on this.
To: I_Love_My_Husband
I'm hoping that this will wake up the Christians in this state. There's a lot of church going Christians who would not approve of this. What's sad is I've talked to professing Christians who don't see anything wrong with gays adopting or homosexual marriage. When I point them to the Bible and what God says, they kinda shake their head, shrug their shoulders and ignore it. But you're right, many Bible believing, church going Christians do not approve, and rightly so.
