ABC News doyenne Barbara Walters claimed Friday that Hillary Clinton called Lisa Foster immediately after her husband Vince was found shot to death in a Virginia park in July 1993. But she had to retract the claim moments later.
NewsMax.com had suggested earlier in the week that Walters ask Mrs. Clinton: "On the night of your good friend Vince Foster's death, White House phone records show that you called Harry Thomason, Maggie Williams, Susan Thomases and Bernard Nussbaum. But there was no phone call to Foster's grieving widow, Lisa. Why not?"
In a Friday interview, radio host Don Imus pursued the topic with the ABC News star, who at first insisted that Mrs. Clinton called Foster's widow on the night he died.
After noting Clinton's calls to Williams, Thomason and Thomases, Walters claimed, "She talked to his wife, too."
"But nobody criticized her for talking to his wife," the top newswoman continued. "I mean, the criticism later on, the investigation was, was she trying to cover something up? Now, when she calls his wife, that wasn't a cover-up. But if she calls some of these other people, that was."
Moments later Imus cited evidence suggesting that Walters was wrong, explaining, "I think the White House records indicate that she didn't call Vince Foster's wife. That was my point."
The challenge prompted Walters to backpedal on the claim:
"You know, Don, I don't know. I don't know if she made every single phone call. I can't remember what she says in the book," she explained. "For all I know, maybe she thought, this is not when you call the wife."
The full exchange went like this:
IMUS: Apparently on the night of Mr. Foster's death, White House phone records indicate that she called Harry Thomason, Maggie Williams, Susan Thomases . . .
WALTER: Yeah, she says so . . .
IMUS: She didn't call . . .
WALTERS: What she says is . . .
IMUS: . . . didn't call his wife.
WALTERS: What she says is that she was distraught. She was heartsick. And so, the way she puts it - now I'm paraphrasing - is, she called anyone who might have been able to shed some light why this hideous thing had happened.
So, in her interpretation, it's not, "I'm calling them to find out, boy, what can I do - how can I cover this up? But I'm calling because [I want to know] how did this happen? How could we not have seen it? What signals did we miss?"
And that it's the tragic phone calls of a woman who has brought [Foster] to Washington from Arkansas. And then, because of the pressures that were put on because of her problems or their problems in the White House, this man kills himself.
So it depends on the interpretation. [Hillary's] interpretation is, "I called everyone. Maggie Williams was her chief of staff. Harry Thomason, Susan Thomases and the other people, these were her dear friends who had known Vince Foster.
So, you know, it's like a lot of what happened there. She says this was innocent and investigators said, "Oh, yeah?"
IMUS: Of course, my question would have been, who would have known Mr. Foster better than his wife? You know.
WALTERS: And his wife didn't know.
IMUS: Certainly better than Harry Thomason or Susan Thomases.
WALTERS: Well, she talked to his wife, too. But nobody criticized her for talking to his wife. I mean, the criticism later on, the investigation was, was she trying to cover something up. Now, when she calls his wife, that wasn't a cover-up. But if she calls some of these other people, that was.
And then she also talks in our interview about one of the things that she feels the worst about is she . . .
IMUS: Let me just interrupt a second. I think the White House records indicate that she didn't call Vince Foster's wife. That was my point.
WALTERS: You know, Don, I don't know. I don't know if she made every single phone call. I can't remember what she says in the book.
IMUS: At least not that night.
WALTERS: Yeah. I don't know. For all I know, maybe she thought, this is not when you call the wife. This is when you - but as I said, her defense of those phone calls was that she was beside herself and she just called everybody to say, "How did this happen? What did you know? Did you know anything, etc?" [End of Excerpt]
Well, I am saddened!!

Pray for GW and the Truth
Is she saying in her new book (of lies) that she called Lisa Foster also that night?
How could we prove that one way or another if she was out of town????
Vince Foster was murdered because he was going to resign and he was not going to go forward with their planned coverups and crimes. They tried to talk him out of it but they failed. He never thought they would kill him. Fatal mistake - never underestimate their evil.
I am torn between murder and suicide at the White House with the body moved to avoid embarassment.
She was in Arkansas when they "discovered" Vinces' body.
