A frenzied sex attack on a six-year-old girl in the middle of a Scarborough shopping mall has horrified onlookers and appalled the head of the police sex crimes unit. "This is the most disgusting, horrific thing I've heard of," Staff-Insp. Bruce Smollet said.
"For someone to do that in front of so many people is just beyond belief."
The little girl was at Cedarbrae Mall at Markham Rd. and Lawrence Ave. around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when she strayed away from her parents, police said.
She was only a few aisles away from them when she was grabbed from behind by a man.
In plain view of several onlookers, he tore at her clothes and sexually assaulted her.
Store staff, customers and the girl's panicked parents all came to her rescue and held a suspect until police arrived.
"We want to find out if there are any other victims of similar incidents out there, though I doubt it's to the same extent," Smollet said.
The youngster was taken to the Hospital for Sick Children, treated and then released.
Christopher Cameron Goodwin, 21, has been charged with choking, sex assault and sex interference. He's being held in custody until a bail appearance on June 11.

Surely an on the spot lynching should not have been considered criminal when the extreme provocation was brought up. Did not one have a pocketknife to amuptate those body parts that allowed him to be able to engage in sexual assault? It did not even have to be a sharp knife.

Why is this creature still alive? I'm not advocating that the cops should put a bullet in his head (you never want to give the govt that ype of easily abused power), but I'm sure a jury would flat out aquitt joe blow bystander who jumped and and blunt trauma'd the perp to death in a fit of justified outrage.

"For someone to do that in front of so many people is just beyond belief." I'm sure the Staff-Insp. didn't mean it that way but the statement implies that had the perp attacked the child out of the sight of others it would have not been so bad. In any case, lock the ba$tard up for a long, long time.

According to NAMBLA, this kind of thing is good for the child's development....

panicked parents all came to her rescue and killed the attacker.

No doubt this fiend will get the support of some political fringe group, and will be released in order to get therapy. Soon another small girl's body will be found somewhere, killed by this pervert.
This is one of the reason I decided 30 years ago never to have children. So many sick f---'s out there.

If this happened to my daughter, I would have broken the guy's neck right there on the spot. I scoff at the fact that the father did not end him when he should have.

Sounds great, but being a prison father isn't the best option for everyone. Unfortunately it is against the law to kill even this kind of scumbag.

At a minimum I'd have rendered him nutless.
I think my statement to those holding him would be, "Yall can testify against me at my trial but till then jest hold this bastard still for me."

Agree. In these kinds of cases there always seems to be a 'window of opportunity' for onlookers to get a free pass to take the law into their own hands. I think I would be the judge and jury - even if it were for just 30 seconds.
To: Always Right
Even in Westchester (we're parents here too you know) it would be hard to get a conviction for a father who killed under those circumstances.
But I definately see your point.
If it were me I think I would have just held the attacker by the most painful part of his broken arm until the police arrived.

If it was done fast and in the process of getting him off your kid no jury in the world would convict.
Like taking his head and planting it in the ground HARD.
Oh, he died, too bad.
