EMILY's List, the left-wing feminist underwriter of Democratic candidates, has seen a 30 percent decrease in its fundraising over the past year. In fact, coming out of its presidential candidate forum of May 20, it was surprised to see that the high-profile event had garnered it only about 75 percent of what it had expected to raise on the program.
"Everyone has been hit hard by the economy and the lack of a really strong candidate," says a DNC fundraiser. "Our people seem to be waiting for one of them the step forward, then you'll see the money start to flow."
The downturn in fundraising, has EMILY's List creating a coalition of like-minded lefty groups, which will meet in the next couple of weeks to begin organizing. Called the Campaign for America's Future, participants hope to shape it into something akin to the Democratic Leadership Council, perhaps a bit further to the left. No word on which groups have been invited.

Couldn't happen to a smarmier bunch of leftists. As to the cause of their fundraising difficulties, I offer them one word:
Hillary.

Maybe, just maybe, it's that some people are finally seeing in the partial birth abortion debate what Emily's list and their ilk are really advocating...and they are turning away, horrified.

Every honest liberal has jumped the Clinton Ship. You may never recover.

Probably due to the dotcom implosion. All those nutty San Buttcisco people who were sure they were destined to rule because of their stock options don't have those options any more.

Our tax dollars are going to work here. Where do you think they get the money for these *groups*? Our dear old government.

"Everyone has been hit hard by the economy and the lack of a really strong candidate," C'mon, I think even she knows the truth and can't say it. They're being choked off. Is anyone going to tell me thats its coincedence that alot of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clintons campaign donors have suddenly closed there wallets up?
The idea is to make sure the democratic party presidential nominee gets slammed. Then in 2008, Hillary can run as the party savior, she can cruise through the primary and face somone other then George W. Bush.
I doubt that whoever gets the nomination is going to suddenly be drowning in contributions. They are going to burn through there own campaign war chests just to get through this primary and a bloody primary its already looking to be.

"Everyone has been hit hard by the economy..."Recession started in early 2000. Seems unlikely that it would account for EL's sudden money problems at this late date.

Donations are down in a lot of places, but not this much.
Someone is sending a signal.

Child killing.
I've always felt that there should be a special GOP fund to counter EMILY (Early Money Is Like Yeast). Set it up so that for every dollar EMILY donates, their designated enemies get $3.00. We can afford it. Call it the Designated Exchange List -- or DESINEX.
