I always thought it curious that the protagonist in Alas Babylon (Randy Bragg of Ft Repose Florida) would have a usurper of his name (sort of) in Stephen King's "The Stand", speaking of noneother than "Randall Flagg" (whom I believe also happens to be a FReeper, heh!)
The last time I looked, I had a copy of AB somewhere around the piles of books that clutter the house-- I'll have to try to dredge it up and read it again.
Man, that was a long time ago- I was a teenager, one telephone in all the house, one B&W TV in the living room, we were about the only family in the neighborhood with two cars- the "good" one, and Dad's "fishing car"- a 1949 Plymouth station wagon named Jarhead. And here today, I'm sitting by a home-made PC that probably is more versatile than the mainframes from that long-ago era, in touch with the whole world.
It's amazing how far we have come.
