Bush condemns Israeli gunship attack

President Bush has criticised an Israeli assassination attempt on a senior member of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Bush said he was concerned the attack would undermine the latest peace talks between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders which took place last week.

Israeli troops injured Abdel Aziz al Rantissi and killed two others when they fired on Rantissi's car from a helicopter gunship.

The Palestinian prime minister, Mahmoud Abbas, condemned the attack, while Hamas has threatened revenge.

I knew this remark was going to happen. I guess Bush doesn't see eye to eye with what Cheney said May 31 2003:

"With such an enemy, no peace treaty is possible, no policy of containment or deterrent will prove effective -- the only way to deal with this threat is to destroy it completely and utterly, and President Bush is absolutely determined to do just that."

The Israelis have as much right to retaliate against the Palesterrorists as the US had the right to retaliate against the Taliban.

I hate to critize President Bush, but how come he does not condem Hmas and their methods? How come USA cant go in and put Hamas in their place? Quit blaming Israel for protecting themselves GW! What happened to Taking Responsibilty for Ones Own Actions????

Hamas agents are the Liberals of the Middle East - quit placating them! Palestinians just kill and kill and kill while no one seems to point a finger at them as the lying bunch of murderers that they are!

A little excerpt from a good article:

I can tell you that US President George W. Bush, intentionally or not, is making the same mistake his father made. He is choosing the immoral, even if perceived-to-be politically expedient, path, which is in direct contradiction to God's Road Map Plan for the Land of Israel and the Jewish People.

Mr. Bush, Jr. will be running for re-election next year. But if he continues on this path he will have lost the bulk of the Jewish vote that until now was potentially increasing in number, and is key in at least three electorally important states (New York, Florida and California). He will also have lost a significant percentage of what was his hardcore voter base, some 40-50 million Evangelical Christians who are strong supporters of Israel, and who comprise key voter blocs throughout the south, southwest and parts of the mid-west.

A decade ago, the Bush-Baker corporate cabal tried hard to force similar dictates down Israel's throat. Then US President Bush, Sr., whose popularity was at an all-time high after his perceived victory in the 1991 Gulf War, plummeted to ultimate defeat after he arrogantly wielded his political power to force Israel to make unilateral tangible concessions to the officially designated representatives of the same Palestinian Arab terrorists.

Like father, like son. George W. Bush, who started out as a world-class leader after September 11th, when he took the moral high ground and declared and carried out a war against terrorism, is sadly throwing it all away, as he chooses the immoral low ground with his practical persecution of Israel, his country's only true ally in the region, on behalf of the very terrorist murderers he claims to oppose. And as a result, if he does not return to be the George W. Bush we once admired, he too will be a one-term president going down in the annals of American political history as one who had it all and blew it.

Bush now has murdered American's blood on his hand for having taken that of Abbas.

Disgusting.

I don't like his statement at all. I think it is hypocritical (remember the terrorists we blew up with a Predator in Yemem?). But in fairness it should be noted that he has repeatedly condemned Arab terrorism against Israel.

From Haaretz:

16:30 U.S. source: attempted hit on Rantisi in Gaza complicates efforts to proceed with the road map peace plan

16:48 White House says Bush `deeply troubled` by Israeli strike on Hamas leader Rantisi

17:05 IDF sources say Rantisi is not just Hamas spoesman, but official who sends terrorists to carry out attacks

Excerpt from Haaretz Article:

U.S. President George W. Bush was "deeply troubled" by an Israeli assassination attempt on Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi and he fears this could undermine Palestinian anti-terror efforts, a White House spokesman said on Tuesday. "The president is concerned that the strike will undermine efforts by Palestinian authorities and others to bring an end to terrorist attacks and does not contribute to the security of Israel," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters. "The president is deeply troubled by the strike," he said.

So President Bush criticizes Israel for having the absolutel audacity to launch a strike on a terrorist after having suffered another attack a few days ago? This absolutely disgusts me.

You can see it on action, right here, right now. people are already fed up with this crap, and are starting to chomp at the bit. I'm definitely one of the above.

Yes, you are right. Still, he should condemn them Every Time! Every Single Time that hamas murders.

I do not think Bush is so stupid that he does not understand the game hamas is playing..so what is he up to?

Could Bush be letting Hamas "Dig their own graves", "giving them enough rope to hang themselves" or what? I sure hope he does not intend to pressure Israel for more consessions than they have already given...

Honest Pro-Israel Republicans are going to have a tough choice.

Bush made his bones in the war of terrorism.

His current hypocrite policy towards Israel makes all his high and mighty words regarding terrorism ring hollow.

Go ahead, line up and tell me to head to DU because that's where I belong for being a Bush hater.

I am always consistent in my politics. If a Republican does something that would have me cursing if it was done by a Democrat, I curse the Republican.

Bush is stabbing Israel in the back to an inch of its survival. Is that an OK policy for pro-Israel Republicans? Or even to just those Republicans who see something terribly wrong in blatant hypocrisy and political cowardice, kowtowing to our Saudi enemies.

I would not mind it if Hamas would dig their own grave, but it is their neighbors graves they dig.

Me too, I have lost a lot of trust in Bush, it seems Political games have a higher value than blood. With a man like that I cannot trust the lives of my family. I live only if it is expedient to him.

I had high hopes that Bush was a man of honor above politics, but it seems the days of honorable politicians is gone, perhaps for good.
