By What Right, Mr. Bush?
Israel National News ^ | 11 June 2003 | An Arutz-7 Editorial

Posted on 06/11/2003 12:13:11 PM PDT by yonif

Mr. Bush,

Since the Aqaba summit, convened in order to promote your Road Map plan, there have been dozens of attacks against Israelis by terrorists of the Palestinian Authority. There were seven Israelis killed by PA elements in the first three days after that conference, and, today, another sixteen innocents have been mercilessly cut down in Jerusalem. Those deaths are a direct result of the policy of appeasement you have adopted, and pressured our own prime minister to adopt, when it comes to Arab terrorism against Jews in Israel. Will you visit the widows, the mourning parents, the wounded in Jerusalem? You should. They are the primary victims of your policy of enforcing appeasement in Israel.

By what right, by what moral right, Mr. Bush, do you pressure Israel to adopt a policy of restraint in the face of terrorist murders like those of the past week?

You have adopted an immoral double standard, Mr. Bush. Your position regarding threats to the American people, be they from Iraq or from Afghanistan, is - rightly so - to seek out and destroy those threatening elements. You sent American forces to change regimes and to carry out targeted killings without end. Yet, when Israel attempted to eliminate Abdel Aziz Rantissi, you were “deeply troubled.” As you know, Rantissi, as a head of the homicidal Hamas terrorist organization, is more deadly to Israel than al-Qaeda is to the United States. Even before the attempted assassination of Rantissi, our security forces had to deal with more than 25 warnings of impending terrorist attacks initiated by Hamas. Rantissi himself is very clear in his public statements - the goal of the Hamas is to fight until the last of the Jews in Israel is dead.

But you, Mr. Bush, are “deeply troubled”.

By what moral right do you breathe a word of criticism of Israel hitting the heads of Hamas, defined as a terrorist organization even by your own Administration?

Your policy of responding to Arab terrorism in the Holy Land by pressuring Israel to move forward with “gestures” and Road Maps, threatens the people of Israel. The US demand to remove Jews from their lands - the Biblical heartland - is immoral. After centuries of Jews being expelled from land to land, and place to place, we have finally come home - and now, you, President of the United States of America, want our own government to force us off our land. Such a disastrous policy may be the harbinger of a serious split in the Jewish people. Israeli soldiers would be forced to carry out expulsions and evictions of 250,000 of their own brethren in Judea, Samaria and Gaza and of another 250,000 in the eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem.

By what moral right, Mr. Bush, do you pressure Israel to tear Jews from the land of their forefathers?

Mr. Bush, why are you relentlessly transforming our prime minister, a general, a hero of the Jewish people, into an American puppet? At the recent Likud party conference Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was greeted by jeers and shouts from hundreds of his former fellow-travelers. Thanks to your policy regarding the Road Map, a man who pioneered the fight against Arab terrorism in Unit 101 is now forced to bend his knee and justify appeasement of the terrorist PLO-run Palestinian Authority.

By what right, Mr. Bush, have you stolen from the Jewish people the hero for whom they voted overwhelmingly in the last two elections?

Mr. Bush, you have portrayed yourself as a moral leader, as a leader who understands good and evil, right and wrong. Yet, your policy towards Israel is an absolutely immoral one. It costs lives, destroys nations and crushes allied leaders.

On the other hand, the American people are a moral people. They understand what it means to stand by allies and to support them in their fight against their enemies. Therefore, Mr. Bush, the American people will not forgive you this immoral Road Map of coercion against Israel. You will not be president of the United States again if you continue to attempt to pay for your campaign in Israeli blood.

Americans with a sense of justice and morality will no doubt see to it that you are made aware of their outrage - and of their intention not to lend you their voices in the coming US elections.

George Bush is a moral leader, except when it comes to appeasing the Arabs, where he is an immoral leader. This is better than Bill Clinton, who was an immoral leader all the time. However, over the past 30 days Bush has been closing his immorality gap with Clinton rapidly.

Ouch.

Like the editorial writers here, I don't see the basis in fact for differentiating the treatment of terrorist organizations like Hamas from the treatment of terrorist organizations like Al Queada. Civilized people cannot reason with terrorists like Hamas. There can be no compromise of your desire to live with their desire to kill you. Wasn't that the lesson of 9/11, not to mention the entire history of the Israel-Palestine mess?

I have seen this quote by President Bush mentioned a lot on these threads. Is "I am deeply troubled" all that was said by him or has this been taken out of context? If that is all he said then can this can be interpreted to mean he is troubled by Abbas not cracking down on Hamas and the other terrorist groups? Or he is troubled that after meeting with Sharon and Abbas in Jordan, that they are still attacking each other.

I am ALL for wiping every last terrorist off the face of the planet, but somehow this is getting dumped on Bush's lap. Just curious...

agreed.

To read some of the opinions here, one would think that Israelis and Palestinians killing each other is only a recent phenomenon.

There is no realistic solution to solving this conflict of the Armpit of the World. I wish we'd bail out of the area entirely and "may the most well-armed nation win".

(although, if some Native American tribe got UN approval to remove me from my home based on some texts in an ancient book, I'd fight to the death anyone who attempted to remove me)

By what moral right, Arutz, do you seek to condemn the good people of Israel to perpetual warfare and to keep within their borders an Arab population that will soon be more populous than the Jews?

The Arab population is a problem, but it does not matter if there is a state or not. There are currently 1.5Million Israeli ARabs, plus 3 Million PLO Arabs. In 25 years, the Israeli ARabs will take over the demographics in Israel. But that is not what we are talking about today. What the problem is today is that Israel must destroy the terrorist enemy and without negotiation. http://www.therightroadtopeace.com

There really is a solution....Let the PLO eradicate Hammas (that is what you do to vermin isn't it?)and all their ilk. Once gone it would be amazing what could be accomplished. Unfortunately Abbas is not being realistic and will not disarm the murdering terrorists....as such, I agree, in that regard there is no REALISTIC solution.

This editorial is too much...

It has gone too far...

You can, through hysterics and hyperbole, overstate your claim and make enemies of friends. Arutz is in danger of doing that.

If America is such a horrible presence in Israeli politics forcing on the Israelis a course of action that the Israelis don't want, well shame on Sharon and the Knesset. If America is such a horrible "enemy" of Israel, than then let the Knesset go to France for their loan guarantee.

If Bush is such an immoral leader, then maybe Sharon needs to turn to the EU to solve Israel's problems since he seems totally helpless to do stand up to mean ole America.

What the problem is today is that Israel must destroy the terrorist enemy and without negotiation.

Bush gave Israel a free hand through the first half of his term to do just that and Israel didn't get it done. It seems to me we ought to give the "road map" a chance and see if the Palis are sick enough of war to reign in Hamas and the rest.

IMHO the road map will fail. Then Bush can put the blame on the parties plainly responsible and wash his hands of the peace process. In the meantime Israel can give their attack helicopter pilots some gunnery training.

Too late. He already shook the murderer's hand.

I think that this guy has exposed the hypocrisy of the road map. If I were Sharon I would retake Lebanon for starters. I would take out Arafat for seconds. I would tell the new "PM" he is next if he doesn't get a handle on his pet bombers. I would warn Iran once and then start taking out targets of value there as reprisal to any Iranian terrorist activity.

The Arab world looks down its collective nose at the dirty Palestians. Any so called Arab nation could solve the problem singly by accepting these Jordainan (not Palestinian) refugees, or they could collectively assimilate these dirt poor refugees of a failed Arab policy. The rest of the world would gladly pony up millions of dollars to defray the cost of assimilation. The truth of the matter is that Arabs do not want the problem solved. It is handy having Pali terrorists taking out Jews. Simple as that. I, for one, am sick of this murderous and cynical stance by Islam.

Jews have borne the price of being Yaweh's favorite people for thousands of years. Their terrorists are no different than our terrorists. Muslims who kill Americans are of no greater target value than Muslim terrorists who kill Jewish people.

I almost find a positive argument for genocide when it comes to Islam. Then I remember that there are pacific muslims. Not many but some. Hamas, Jihadists, etc. need badly to be educated in the dangers of attacking real civilization. Eastern terrorists in Indonesia and other islands need an object lesson so that they might determine the path to their future.

/Rant off!

I agree with you. I think Bush has put the ball in Abbas' hands now and is supporting him and saying "Fix your terrorism problems and we will help both sides". It is said that the Palestinians want the jews erased from Israel. If that is the view of their majority, then we can look forward to a bloody, messy war. Unless concessions and compromise is reached between both sides, we can look for more of the same violence indefinetly.
