There should be more recognition of why these guys want women unconscious. They are undoubtedly perverted. Probably have a fascination with necrophilia (sex with dead bodies) caused by jaded sexual appetites. They need to have submissive women in order to get their kicks. Sickos.
I'm not. It happened to me 30 years ago. He was the roommate of an acquaintance. I was bruised and actually fainted the next morning, the only time in my life I've ever passed out. It was 1973, so one didn't report such an incident. No one would have believed me because it was still part of the "free love" era.
The memory is still strong for me but I don't dredge it up very often. I'm thankful that today women are believed.
There's plenty of room for healthy skeptism, since some date rap charges seem to be the result more of buyer's remorse than any actual physical coercion. But it does happen. If I was on a jury and it was a case of he-said/she-said, I'd have to let the guy off. (I remember one case in New Hampshire where a guy was serving time for rape when the woman recanted.) If there is physical evidence, say bruising or drugs in the victim however, that's a different ballgame. The take away message is that women need to be careful whom they go out with (you knew that). That doesn't mean you can never prove rape, just that it's very hard to prove.
