So why do we pay SWAT guys for training and buy them all that armor and those toys if they wait 3 hours to enter a situation? Even a lay person can see something was not right at Columbine.

So what you are saying is that unless there is an innocent person that they can shoot in the face (FBI-Virginia) Or a Lady Carrying a baby to shoot in the head(Ruby Ridge) or a old man at a wrong address they can wake up in the middle of the night and fill full of holes and stomp his pet to death, or an innocent Security Guard (Richard Jewell) you can wrongfully arrest and smear in the press, or a car that has a dog in it you can unload your sidearm on (Tennessee) they hang out at the local Crispy Creme and practice procedures and when the Sh!t hits the fan they hide behind cars?

The worst condemnations of the cowardly actions of the Colorado cops and federal Swatzies who later *cleared by fire* rooms in the school in which live survivors remained has come from other cops, in particular a cousin of mine on the SWAT [they call theirs SRT]team in another Colorado county.

If these are the tactics used by SWAT, then a re-vamp of tactics is desperately needed. The shooters were dead for 2 hrs before the cops made an entrance into the school. The teacher who was shot bled to death in that time. That is at least one life that could have been saved if the cops on the scene would have done their job. I consoder what happened at Columbine to have been dereliction of duty to the point of being criminal. Think about it this way: two dead gunmen held an entire police force at bay for 2 hrs when their job is to protect and serve.

I remember the day that it happened very well. Our best friends were giving birth to their son that day, and we were at the hospital awaiting the new arrival when the live shots started up. I can remember nearly yelling at the TV "What in the h&ll are they waiting on!!!!!!' The police waiting hours before making an entry was total disregard for public safety.

I have to agree, the proper method is to secure a perimeter and hold the killers in with teenage girls. I mean a jackboot could get hurt! Moron

I think the general public has learned a lot about SWAT tactics.

Columbine is not the only case where the trained cops failed to do their duty. We know that many SWAT teams are made up of macho cops who are afraid to get shot at. We see examples of this at places like Ruby Ridge, Waco, no-knock entries, etc.
