I seem to recall a recent news story that mentioned he was totally bedridden.

Brinkley--who has a long and distinguished history of television news--was part of the famous
Hunley & Brinkley Report during the 1960's. He also had a distinguished second career at ABC with
This Week with David Brinkley for many years, too.
Despite his political leanings he will be missed. =(

I remember watching the Huntley-Brinkley Report in the late 50's and 60's. I think David Brinkley was the one who started what evolved into This Week on ABC, but Huntley-Brinkley were originally on NBC.

Wasn't it Brinkley who said, thinking that his microphone had been turned off, after Clinton was re-elected, "Oh no, not four more years of this nonsense"?

Despite his political leanings he will be missed. He may not have agreed with conservatives, but you would have never known it from his reporting on This Week.
He was one of the few major news guys to condemn Bill Clinton during the impeachment hearings.
