loser=sinners
At least, that was my interpretation. I think the author chose to use the world loser, because it is more commonly used in our language, these days. Many people have a hard time using the word, sin, sinners, evil, hell and devil... because they really aren't part of our mainstream language.

"This contrived title of Christians as losers is deceptive. It's stupid. It implies that winners don't need Christ."
Jorge... dude, it's an opinion or one's "take" not a theological edict.
I personnaly like Mike Warnike (sp) ditty he did on one of his albums "the trouble with christians is they are so busy shinning their armor or fighting one another" also "you can be so heavenly consicous, your no earthly good"
A suggestion, try decaf for a couple weeks.

I'm a very serious christian and I think the libertarian philosophy actually comes closest to the mark. Christianity strips away all the religious junk between you and God, it's just a bare faced relationship between the two.
Libertarianism strips away all the 'control freak' junk between an individual and the consequences of their choices, with no outside intrusion from those in a position of power. This leaves a totally open conduit for God to intervene in the life of that person.
Socialism is the state trying to take the place of God. It gets very idolistic for the individual, and it's a very irreverent position for the state to take.

Is that what Jesse Ventura meant??> No. Jesses comments were strictly an unabashed criticism of all Christians.

Another one who believe what the public thinks and what losers think. Truly enlightening self delusional stupidity.

Funny, I look at other Christians, and they seem to have it so together. They are following Christ's teachings and doing all kinds of good works. But, I struggle everyday. I can't remember one day when I didn't have to tell God I was sorry. On the other hand, I don't know how people who have no faith get out of bed in the morning.

"Is that what Jesse Ventura meant??"Jesse Ventura meant that many people who can't cope in life, who are, for some reason or another, unable to bear life's struggle, use religion or faith in a Supreme Being to give their pitiful existence (in the big scope of the universe) some importance...some hope in a reward for all eternity.
They cannot and will not accept that perhaps humans are no more than a virulent bacteria on this planet we call home.
Of course I could be wrong... ;^)

A nice exegesis of the following:
Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'? Jesus answered them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:29-32)
Note that none of us is "healthy" or "righteous." As you point out, we're all losers. Jesus is saying simply that we must admit that.

Did you understand that the word sinner meant loser, and that it was an experiment about how everyone would react to his email address?

Exactly... I think Jesus would hang out at the local homeless shelter, not the country club, if he snuck into town, tonight! The losers will inherit it all. :)

I think Jesus would hang out at the local homeless shelter, not the country club, if he snuck into town, tonight! Actually, I wouldn't be so sure about that. You'll note that the Gospels have him hanging out in both sorts of places. He goes where he needs to go -- and he is just as willing to save a rich man as a poor one.
To kick off a really good discussion, try to figure out the meaning of Matt 5:3 -- Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
He'd act differently with a rich or poor person, of course, just as a doctor will treat different illnesses differently.
At the homeless shelter he'd offer hope and healing, and a way out of their present mess.
At the country club he'd poke at hypocrisy and deflate a few egos.
In either case some would follow, and some would not.
