Perfect example of taking a scripture out of context.
Read the whole passage and you'll see that Paul is refering to the second coming of Christ. Not a secret hidden coming because there won't be any such thing, but His second coming to the earth at the end of the tribulation.
I disagree that it's a side issue. In reality, it's a life or death issue. A live by the truth in the Word or live in deception issue. Those who believe they are going to be caught up before the tribulation aren't preparing for the hard times coming and they will be caught up in further deception.

Well - let me explain my term, then... "Side issues" sound unimportant, I guess. Unfortunate choice of term, perhaps, since I do believe that the end times are very important.

Let me just state, however, that it matters not to my salvation whether there is a rapture or not. I'm saved. I'm going home when it's time. So are all of us who are trusting in Jesus Christ.

Neither the exact unfolding of the last days (nor our understanding of it) will affect the salvation of those of us who already trust in Christ. We are saved, and whether a rapture happens before, after, during the tribulation, or not at all, we will not be lost.
