Kennedy Space Center isn't exactly a plum assignment. You have to live in a mosquito-infested palmetto patch with no cultural activities to speak of, unless you like fishing in 3' of brackish water and mud-bogging in your beat-up pickup.

It's a company town, so every time something goes wrong in the shuttle program, the value of your home in Titusville or Merritt Island turns to $hit.

Maybe Bridges requested the transfer so he and his family could return to the real world.

Hey, that's heaven!

Even with two shuttle disasters and the economy taking a hilly ride, Brevard county is doing great economically. I would move there if I could.
