When I was a deputy I treated
every single human encounter as a potential felon , armed, dangerous and remembered that the hands were the primary threat. (yeah even the ex-wife :o) That was the first "routine" thing taught, learned , and remembered that got me to retirement.
Wonder where this troops FTO was ?
Stay Safe !!

I would think traffic stops involving obvious gangbangers are tense moments.
I've also heard highway cops claim to fear stopping military looking whites in SUVs or 4 wheelers with "Patriot" style stickers because they fear that they may well be armed well and know how to use their tools...sort of like the North Hollywood Suicide by Cop Bank Robber types.
...in any event...I'd be itchy.
