The left-wing People for the American Way (PFAW) published the following quotes, among others, from Pryor on its website. PFAW intended them to be a distillation of the reasons he should not be confirmed. Conservatives reading them might stand up and cheer.
On Roe v. Wade
"the worst abomination of constitutional law in our history"
On "states rights" federalism
"With the New Deal, the Great Society, and the growing federal bureaucracy, we have strayed too far in the expansion of the federal government."
On the American government
"the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States are rooted in a Christian perspective of the nature of government and the nature of man. The challenge of the next millennium will be to preserve the American experiment by restoring its Christian perspective."
On Bush v Gore
"Im probably the only one who wanted it 5-4. I wanted [then] Gov. Bush to have a full appreciation of the judiciary and judicial selection so we can have no more appointments like Justice Souter." http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=10991
On sodomy laws
"a constitutional right that protects the choice of ones partner . . . must logically extend to activities like prostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia (if the child should credibly claim to be willing)."
On "sodomy" laws targeting only homosexuals, even if not enforced criminally
"Even legislation that is largely symbolic and infrequently enforced . . . has significant pedagogic value. Laws teach people what they should and should not do, based on the experience of their elders. The states should not be required to accept, as a matter of constitutional doctrine, that homosexual activity is harmless and does not expose individuals and the public to deleterious spiritual and physical consequences."
On what he calls "the erosion of self-government"
"For more than 30 years, the liberal agenda has been pushed through the courts, without a vote of either the people or their representatives. The courts have imposed results on a wide range of issues, including racial quotas, school prayer, abortion, and homosexual rights."
On guns
"As a law enforcement official, I know crimes are caused by criminals, not by the gun industry. Indeed, by providing good-quality firearms at reasonable prices to law-abiding citizens and lawmen, the gun industry helps reduce crime."

Each nominee has been progressively offensive to the left.
I guess the next one will be a preacher or maybe a war hero!
Pryor makes Estrada look tame. this has got to stop sometime. If they don't let Estrada come to a vote soon, Bush will have an issue made for the new majority minority group.

Bush should inform Leahy, Schumer and the Swimmer that every nomination for the judiciary from this day forward will be a member of the Christian Coalition, religious right, etc. This strategy will change only after Estrada and Owen are given up or down votes.

If these quote are true, we don't need another Ashcroft on the Supreme Court.

Pryor isn't as bad as Ashcroft. Hopefully Pryor's knowledge of the Constitution and states' rights will help him make the right decision on the federal drug war.

The judiciary committee interrogating Pryor actually gave him an easy time. The lefties on the committee can not debate issues. They only asked him if he made these statements and how could they not influence him on the court. His answer was that he was not going to be asked to justify his beliefs on the court; he was going to be asked to judge the case before him according to the law. End of interrogation.

his nominatin is in danger by the libs and by the RINOs. The judiciary comm vote was supposed to be last Thursay, but it was delayed, presumably because RINO Specter of Pennsylvania (Go Toomey!) needed more time to consider this nomination. The vote will now take place next week. Specter needs to be Freeped in the next week!
Here are the vitals:
Sen Specter
Main Office: 711 Hart Building
Washington, DC 20510
Tel: 202-224-4254
Fax: 202-228-1229
email:
arlen_specter@specter.senate.gov Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions has been working on Specter and if you want to encourage him,
335 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-0104
(202) 224-4124
(202) 224-3149 - Fax
Interesting history about Sessions...He was appointed, I think by Bush I for a judgeship, but the libs blocked him. Well know he's a US Senator on the Judiciary Committee! Who got the last laugh?!
