OK, it's one thing to be celibate during high school. I can understand that. I can even understand being celibate until you get married, assuming you are planning to get married in your early 20s. But if you are still celibate at 33, there is something wrong.

Incredible. 500-plus posts on a news story about a guy who doesn't want to have sex until he's ready to do so. How many posts would it be if the story was about a guy nailing every carbon-based life form with an XX chromosome pattern within a 5-mile radius?

Celibate until 33? The dude is either completely devoid of testosterone or he's a fruit. If you want to stay celibate until marriage, I can understand that. ....But if you're going be celibate and you're not married by the time you're 25, something's not kosher.

You are a very smart man to be celibate. I have a daughter and was married twice and then decided to be celibate. I must admit I never liked sex, but I did it and it meant nothing to me. Celibacy is very easy for people like me. The sad part is not having celibate mate friends to go out with. I get plenty who pretend but they are soon found out.>
I would love to meet a very nice celibate male from 50 on up. You can be younger, but I have always like talking to older men.

Women think that if men have sex with them, they'll be more likely to stay. It's a fact, although nobody will admit it.

Lisa Kudrow is a successful actress. She stayed a virgin until she got married at 31. But according to your relatively promiscuous standards, she's probably has some mental problem because she refused to have sex until she got married. I'll leave it to you to explain what that is.

I applaud the guy's choice to be celibate, however, the following is kind of werid:

"I dated a very intelligent woman, an attorney, who was OK with celibacy," Washington said. "But after six months, she wanted me to make a commitment. She felt if she knew we were going to marry then she could abstain. I couldn't make that promise."

I'm taking it that the guy expects his women to be celibate too, but he's not giving them any reason to be celibate for him at least. Most people who advovate celibacy are marriage minded.

"if you are still celibate at 33, there is something wrong."

Passage of time doesn't eradicate the wisdom of God's commands (the commands at point in this issue are not to commit adultery or fornication).

"We have to stop using each other,' he said."

Just wanted to reprise the wisdom.

But if you are still celibate at 33, there is something wrong. If you look at it through a wordly perspective, yes, there is something wrong with you. But if you look at it like God looks at it there is nothing wrong. Just pick up the Bible. Plenty of God's loyal servants remained celibate their entire lives. Free love isn't so free.
