Sarah and the Saudis Despite Prince Bandar's assurances, another American woman is trapped in the kingdom.

If only Sarah Saga were trying to crash a men's-only golf club. Then she and those like her might be guaranteed some sustained media coverage. As it is, this intrepid 23-year-old American mother is now holed up with her two children in the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah in a desperate bid for freedom.

Can we make noise, people? Can we call the State Dept., the Saudi Embassy to the US, the Saudi Embassy to the UN, heck the Saudi Embassy to the UK?

Can we freep these freaking people?

Their entire culture is an outrage, the way they treat women! I will research and post telephone numbers tomorrow. Tried the google, but every site I found was in Arabic. But I'll be damned if I can't get the telephone numbers via 411, but just don't have the patience to do it now. And for all I know, this enterprising group has these numbers to hand.

We are not the serfs of Arabia. Our government will respond to us, we have seen it happen before. Let's raise hell!

Enough is enough, and that's too much! As a wonderful woman I used to know used to say!

What a telling condemnation of the NYT and other liberal media outlets.

Put me on the list for phone calls and e-mails. Maybe we should also be pressuring our congressmen to raise a fuss.

We've -- well, President Bush, anyway -- been trying to claim that the Saudi's are our friends. I try really hard to understand the diplomacy required in foreign relations and would like to give our President the benefit of the doubt. The more we learn, however, the more we doubt.

why any U.S. Administration would even consider issuing another Saudi visa or repatriating another Saudi detainee from Guantanamo.

Because for whatever reason the Bushes have a thing for the Saudis. Both "princes" Bandar and Abdullah have stayed at Crawford, despite House of Saud complicity in 9-11; and when Bandar's wife (one of wives?) was found sending money to 9-11 hijackers, Barbara Bush (the old wrinkled one, not the young drunk) leapt to defend the Saudi "princess". Recently at Tufts university the useless X-41 had the audacity to give a speech about how "mad it made him" that his buddies the Saudis were being criticized so much these days. Now this administration is busy freeing the Gitmo Saudis picked up in Afghanistan. Are they Al Qaeda or did they just go to Afghanistan to kill Americans? We'll never know.

So long as the Saudis insist on the dismal status quo, we can't understand why any U.S. Administration would even consider issuing another Saudi visa or repatriating another Saudi detainee from Guantanamo.

I think I feel a "Billy Jack moment" coming on.

This needs to be freeped. It needs to get the attention of the "evil" VRWC via the internet, radio, and FOX. Hannity, O'Reilly and others need to get this on their radar.

Perhaps our FREEP should start with the media, and the Saudi Embassy.

I'd like to reach up under their silly Saudi skirts and cut something off!

I agree with you, but I also wonder what made the women give up their religion and get married to those..

Just ask Ms. Saga's mother, Debbie Dornier.

Ms. Saga should blame her mother, that's who sent her to Saudi and who married and Arab in the first place. Why do women marry whoever they please and then expect the government to intervene for them when things go wrong? If a woman wants to marry an Arab, she only needs to be aware of their laws and cultures before she does it and be willing to face the consequences.

Here are numbers as promissed. I will have to make my own calls tomorrow, as my job is insane today, but I'm jumping in here to get the numbers down.

Saudi Embassy to the UN (NYC) 212-752-2740

Saudi Embassy to the US (DC) 202-342-3800

US Dept. of State 202-647-4000 (main #), 202-647-6575 (Public communications, whatever that is), Saudi Arabia "Desk" 202-647-7550

White House Comment Line 202-456-1111, fax 202-456-2461

Any other gov't place you might want to find you can probably find via firstgov.gov, where I super-easily found all these gov't numbers, the embassies I got via 411.

The Bushes may love the Saudis to death, but the American people are fed up with these two-faced creeps. I agree, the women who married these guys are stupid, but the punishment for stupidity is not false imprisonment. And the taxpayers do enough for the children born here of illegal immigrants who are full citizens, we can certainly do more for American citizens held captive in a demented foreign land. If the Muslims want it to be a war against all Islam, they can have one. Let them just keep doing what they are doing.

I was reading this in the Wall Street Journal today, and wanted to get back to my office to post it.

As long as our government is so easy to be manipulated by lobbyists, and influence peddlers, the US will be the BITCH of Saudi Arabia, to borrow a name calling from Ann Coulter.

The Saudi government has billions of dollars to spend on promoting Islam world-wide. If a negative picture is printed about Saudi Arabia or Islam in the west, the Saudi minion of agents goes to work. Mind you that these agents are mostly former senior US government officials. The current top lobbyist for Saudi Arabia is Robert Strauss! Go figure—a Jewish guy defending these barbarians that are bent on destroying Israel!

I still remember Ross Perot famous statement: "NOT FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE"! If the US finally cuts the cord and declare Saudi Arabia as number one enemy, as they should have been on September 12, 2001, then, the media can work on exposing any Saudi defender as a traitor/terrorist sympathizer.

"Go figure—a Jewish guy defending these barbarians that are bent on destroying Israel!"

You know, I've tried to figure this stuff out, but I can't. I heard some other Jewish lawyer NUT on with Hannity the other day, he's got some Hamas biggie as a client. He sounded smart, but deranged.

I find this is all of a piece with the extreme self-hatred exhibited by all the left. PETA is a good example, they don't even want to put their own species above rats, how demented are they?

There has been some massive cultural failure, these people are far too prevelent. I hope "right" thinkers like us can eventually turn this ship around.

But, as for right now, we've got to start pressuring our gov't on the Saudis. All we hear is how weak they are, so why do we kow-tow to them? If we don't buy their stinking oil, who will? Les Francais? Who will do what with it, lower gas prices, and offend les enviornmentalists? Mais non! They will sell it to us, in the end. We got nothing to lose and everything to gain by facing the uncooperative Muslims down at every point in the game. Let them keep crying over Andalusia, etc. until they wake the heck up and decide to live in modern civilization. Because they sure as h*ll aren't dragging my butt back to a middle ages worse than the one my foremothers lived through.

I guess I finally found someone who see things my way.
