I dont think you are competent enough to discuss this.
Had the Plan the ACC had gone down then VaTech would've been left without a chair. Now the possibility of going to the SEC was there but not guaranteed.
No...Tech did what it had to do. Most percieved UVA's move as that of a washed up old lady angling out a better looking honey so she didnt have a ticket for the dance.
It's not tech's fault that they are dedicated to winning and have put in the work. UVA goofed off for a couple of years and are just now coming out of it...not insisting on VaTech inclusion was seen as a backdoor to defeating Tech off the field...cause they sure as heck arent gonna be doing it on the field anytime soon.
Eitherway...things dont look good for the initial ACC plan.

If you're implying that season tickets and luxery boxes arent important considerationsThey are important to the die hards and alums. It's the TV that really counts. Mighty Miami only averages 4000 ticket sales per game, I heard somewhere, but the TV market is hugh because they recruit primarily in the NE.

Ol' Dem Warner may have missed his opportunity. He should have gotten on the phone with Gray Davis(before his kingdom collapsed) and had Grayout blackmail the Pac10 schools into expanding to 12, adding BYU(getting Hatch off the NCAA's back) and Colorado(who has always eyed that conference). Then the SEC could kick out stepchild Arkansas and pay the Big 12 to take them in(to cover the No Child Left Behind costs of raising the Razorbacks to the Big 12's much higher academic standards), and add V. Tech. With V. Tech history of ethical issues and weak non-conference schedules, they'd be a perfect fit for the SEC.

Seriously, has there been any talk of V. Tech going to the SEC? Moving from 12 to 14 teams would be a huge headache, and who would the 14th team be?
Say Notre Dame and I'll report you to the mods...

The SEC wants them if the ACC doesn't. Them? Do not think so.
Though kicking Vandy out of the SEC and bringing the Hokies in is a possible. I believe that Blackburg is further south than Lexington

Kick Vandy out and VT drops nicely into the Eastern Division.

Its no joke. The differences in academic standards(regarding athletes) between the SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10 was a huge issue when Texas and A&M were being wooed at the breakup of the Southwest conference.

Hey, if it makes ya'll feel better, we're about to eliminate Miami from the College World Series. 5-1 in the 6th, including a bases loaded walk.

Initially after the news hit...Tech fans were scrambling for an out. Tech has strong National Championship aspirations...the Big East losing it's BCS bid would've been a major blow...so Tech was floating ideas.
The SEC was one.

But the Big East isn't going to lose its BCS bid, at least not for awhile. Original BCS agreement assures that for another 4 years.

We don't CARE about the money, at least the fans don't; we were big basketball before basketball was big.
And I don't want the damn Big East in my conference.

As a Southwest Conference fan(RIP), I hear where you are coming from.
But then as a U. of Houston Phi Slamma Jamma fan, all of a sudden my repressed bitter memories of a Wolfpack upset suddenly return. I better stop typing now, lest I say something I'll later regret!

Right...and they wouldnt have gotten a re-up. And without Miami there, running the tables and going 11-0 just isnt the same...insuring that for the next four years...Tech wouldnt be balling for the Championship.

May you lose your seats to Donna Shalala and Janet Reno when Miami is in town...
