It breaks down into two components with the leftist-idiot-vermin:
- The left cannot handle the fact that conservative opinion is getting out to the public. They hate it. They have dominated all media for so long that the fact that conservative opinion now has an outlet, and is actually being heard, galls them to no end. You need to understand that this is why they are reacting in this way, why all this "need to counter conservative dominated media" b.s. is being thrown around by them - they have never had to face a divergent opinion in the media before. They have never had to compete in the marketplace of ideas before. The fact that they are having to compete (even though they still remain dominant in so far as they hold all the major media outlets in broadcast and print) and the fact that they are being beaten in the marketplace by a smaller conservative presence, scares the living bejeezus out of them. There is no underestimating just how frightened they are of the rise of talk radio and Fox News.
- The left thinks they are losing because "they just can't get their message out". They are slightly disingenuous when it comes to this statement. There's a side of them that deals with their ideology like religion - and to admit that their ideology is rejected (since they treat politics as religion, meaning "the State" is their God and government is their church) would be the equivalent of a Christian having to admit that their God is dead, their religion is rejected. The left just cannot do this - to admit they are losing, that their ideology is rejected by the majority, would be to admit they were wrong. That will never happen. To admit they were wrong would be to admit their God is dead. It would be giving up their essence. It would mean losing an integral inner part of their own being without which they could not face another day. So, in part, what they're doing is like a drowning man desperately flailing around and treading water, gasping for air. Part of this move is an act of desperation. They have to believe that their "message just isn't getting out" because to admit the alternative would be to cease to exist for many of them. It'll never happen. There is a side of them, though, that is disingenuous - there's a part of them that knows that they cannot compete in the marketplace of ideas. A side which knows their ideology is built on foundation of sand, and that when challenged, it crumbles. There's no substance to it. It's a paper tiger. It's a sand castle. Push against the doctrine of liberal orthodoxy and it folds like a house of cards. A part of each and every liberal knows this; and it they bury it deep. They won't ever admit it. So the drive for this "media network" is really about trying to find a way to justify their existence and their ideology. They know, though, deep down, that it will fail. They know why previous efforts have failed. But they must keep trying. Because the alternative is just too horrible for them to face.
So the threat they face from our side is real. They are truly terrified of it. They know deep down that the public, given a choice, rejects their ideology completely. They know, deep down, why Phil Donahue failed, and Fox News Channel dominates the ratings. They know why Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc, are successful on radio, and they have never had a single successful liberal on talk radio.
They know.
But they must keep swimming, or they know they will drown.
What we're witnessing is a death struggle...a drowning, gasping, struggle on the part of the left that cannot deal with what is happening to them.
